Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexie Chaudhuri.
Hi Lexie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I studied advertising and public relations as an undergrad in Chicago. During my senior year, I accepted a part-time communications internship with the Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center. In that role, I supported business advisors working with local startups and investors, and it gave me my first real taste of entrepreneurship, which I loved.
The office was in the same building as Edelman Chicago. Through networking, I secured an interview at the global communications firm and ultimately joined their B2B/Tech group within the corporate communications practice when I graduated. I feel extremely fortunate for that opportunity, as it came just a year before the 2008 recession.
Since then, most of my career has been on the agency side, spanning both communications and advertising. I later went back to school for my MBA at the University of California, Irvine. During this time, I worked with Abound Food Care to raise awareness around food insecurity using my comms background.
Today, I run a public relations consultancy, LAC Public Relations. I focus on helping ad agencies and industry executives build trust, while securing earned media coverage in trade outlets such as Ad Age, Adweek, and Campaign US.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As a business owner, the biggest challenge is wearing multiple hats. I’m responsible not only for leading PR strategy and execution for my clients but also for managing the operational and business development aspects of my consultancy. It’s a constant balancing act, but one that’s incredibly rewarding. That said, entrepreneurship isn’t for everyone. The highs are high, but the lows can be just as steep. For those who thrive in more structured environments, the inevitable ups and downs can feel risky!
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about LAC Public Relations?
LAC Public Relations is a boutique PR consultancy that elevates the reputation of creative companies and C-suite executives. I specialize in helping ad agencies build trust and brand equity through earned media and thought leadership positioning. From op-eds to ad campaign publicity and editorial awards, I’m passionate about helping creative leaders tell their stories in ways that spotlight the fascinating, fast-evolving world of advertising—a multi-billion-dollar industry.
After working in both PR and ad agencies, the common denominator is that even the most creative teams can struggle to prioritize their own marketing. When you spend your days building brands for others, it’s surprisingly easy to let your own story fall to the bottom of the list. What sets my work apart is the combination of PR experience and business acumen I bring to the table. I understand the pace, pressure, and nuance of agency business, and I know how to translate creative excellence into communications that resonate with the right audiences. Because I run a lean operation, my clients work directly with me, which means they get senior-level strategy, personalized attention, and a true partner invested in their success.
I’m most proud of seeing clients evolve from being relatively unknown to becoming recognized and respected voices in their space. After many years of working in public relations, I still get a dopamine rush when a reporter is interested in a story, or when a campaign I’ve pitched earns recognition in the trades. These wins reaffirm why I love working in PR. But more importantly, they reinforce what I believe at my core: trust is the currency of communications. PR isn’t just about headlines; it’s about earning credibility that compounds over time.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Early in my career, I secured a segment on The Late Show with David Letterman for my client, Babolat. I sent a pitch to the show’s producer and coordinated the logistics for an interview with Rafael Nadal, who appeared to promote his autobiography, Rafa. At the end of the interview, Nadal and Letterman famously hit tennis balls into the audience, using Babolat racquets, of course. It was one of those moments that made me realize how thrilling it is to see PR come to life on a national stage!
