Exploring Life & Business with Marielle Viola of Motion Mentality

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marielle Viola.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I didn’t get into the fitness/coaching space for a lot of the reasons you see trainers getting into this business for aesthetic reasons. I got into it because movement was the one thing that kept me steady when life wasn’t. I grew up an athlete, but the mental side of things hit me way harder than any workout ever did. Fitness became the place where I processed, healed, and rebuilt myself, and that’s really what pushed me into coaching.

I’ve worked in a lot of different spaces. Fitness, sales, marketing, helping open a gym, all the way to launching my own business, and every step showed me that people don’t just need workouts. They need clarity. Structure. Someone who sees the human behind the goals. My own mental health journey made me deeply aware of how much our bodies and minds are connected, and that’s what shaped the way I coach today!

Motion Mentality started because I wanted to create something that wasn’t just reps and macros. I wanted a space where high-performing women could get strong physically and mentally. Where training feels like therapy, discipline feels like self-respect, and the process actually feels sustainable.

Since then, I’ve worked with everyone from athletes to postpartum moms to women who are simply tired of feeling disconnected from themselves. And the through line is always the same: when the mind shifts, the body follows.

That’s really how I got here!! Not from a perfect plan, just from turning my own healing into something that helps other people find theirs.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not a smooth road at all. My path has had a lot of moments where I had to rebuild myself.- personally, mentally, and professionally. I’ve dealt with burnout, identity shifts, and seasons where I felt completely disconnected from my own body and direction. There were times in the fitness industry where I questioned my confidence, my style, and whether my voice even mattered.

On top of that, balancing my own mental health while trying to help others with theirs forced me to slow down and relearn what “healthy” actually means. I’ve had to navigate leaving jobs that weren’t aligned, rebuilding after a gym shut down, and reinventing myself more than once. And like anyone building a business, there have been months of uncertainty, learning curves, and figuring things out the messy way.

But all of that is what shaped how I coach now. The struggles taught me to lead with empathy, to pay attention to the human behind the goals, and to make mental health a core part of everything I do. The hard seasons didn’t stop me, they’re the reason I’m able to help the women I work with today

As you know, we’re big fans of Motion Mentality . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My business is called Motion Mentality, and the name itself really explains what I do: I help high-performing women rebuild their bodies and their mindset through movement, structure, and honest conversation. I’m a fitness and personal development coach, but what I’m really known for is blending mental health, strength training, and real-life strategy into one coaching experience.

I specialize in helping women 30+ who feel burnt out, overwhelmed, or disconnected from their bodies. My programs mix functional strength training, mindset alignment, and habit coaching so clients don’t just “get in shape”—they get grounded, confident, and consistent in a way that actually fits their life. I’m also known for creating customized programs for postpartum moms, athletes, and women navigating big life transitions.

What sets Motion Mentality apart is that it’s not a surface-level fitness brand. I don’t teach discipline from a place of shame or pressure, I teach it from a place of self-respect. My coaching is science-driven, emotionally honest, and built around long-term sustainability. Clients come to me for results, but they stay because they feel seen, supported, and held accountable in a way that feels human, not robotic.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that Motion Mentality has a clear voice: grounded, empowering, a little edgy, and centered on the idea that strength starts internally. It’s the same energy that inspired my podcast, The Inner Lift, which explores the mental and emotional side of wellness.

For readers: Motion Mentality offers 1:1 online coaching, customized strength programs, and mindset-based guidance for women who want results that go deeper than aesthetics. If you’re someone who wants structure, inner alignment, and to feel genuinely strong again—in your body and in your life—this is the space for you.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I’m big on anything that feeds both mindset and momentum. Two podcasts that have shaped a lot of my growth are The School of Greatness by Lewis Howes and The Ed Mylett Show. Both of them dive deep into personal development, high performance, and emotional resilience in a way that actually translates into real-life action. I’ll usually listen to them on walks or while I’m training—those episodes always remind me to zoom out, stay intentional, and keep building.

I’m also huge on consuming content that teaches emotional regulation, leadership, and understanding human behavior—things that directly impact how I coach and how I show up for my clients. Whether it’s a book on habit psychology, a podcast that challenges the way I think, or an interview with someone who’s rebuilt their life from scratch, I gravitate toward anything that strengthens my mind the same way training strengthens my body.

At the end of the day, my “resources” are the things that keep me learning, grounded, and aligned—so I can pour that same energy back into my business and the women I work with.
