Hi Olivia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Olivia Borges, and I’m the founder of Face Haven Aesthetics, opening this April 2025 in La Jolla, San Diego. My journey into aesthetics began with a deep passion for beauty, self-care, and genuine connection. Having experienced my own skin challenges, I understand just how powerful the right treatments – and the right guidance can be. That deep understanding sparked my commitment to delivering results-focused aesthetics with a comprehensive approach that considers the full picture: skin health, lifestyle, and overall well-being.

What drives me most is witnessing the confidence and transformation that comes from achieving healthy skin. Face Haven Aesthetics was created to fill a gap I saw in the industry – a place where clients feel truly seen, where high-level skin care meets individualized care, and where every detail is rooted in intention and excellence. I also recognized a deeper need for providers who could bridge both clinical and holistic understanding – looking at the whole person, not just surface-level skin concerns. My goal is to combine my experience as an esthetician and future nurse to offer elevated, results-driven care that’s grounded in science and designed to deliver the highest level of support and education for long-term skin health.

Our offerings blend science-backed technology with personalized care, and each product or treatment in the studio has been carefully researched, tested, and chosen with purpose. I only bring in what I truly love and believe in – because my clients deserve the best.

This space is deeply personal to me. It’s a reflection of everything I stand for, and I’ve poured my heart into building something that feels equal parts healing, results-driven, and empowering. I am on the path to becoming a registered nurse, with plans to merge both backgrounds in medical aesthetics to offer even more comprehensive, advanced care in the near future.

Q: Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today?

Since childhood, I’ve always been drawn to beauty, skincare, makeup, and the rituals that help us feel more like ourselves. But over time, it became clear that specializing in skin was where my heart truly lived. I was especially called to acne care and skin health because of the impact it has on confidence, well-being, and self-expression.

After esthetics school, I started by learning under seasoned estheticians and quickly became obsessed with education. I invested in every advanced training I could find, took courses beyond what was required, and fully immersed myself in learning the science behind skin. I truly believe that continued education is what sets exceptional practitioners apart – it’s what allows you to evolve, adapt, and deliver real results.

Although I was gaining experience and growing in my craft, I always felt something was missing. I envisioned a space that aligned with my philosophy – where clinical skincare and lifestyle-based care could coexist, rooted in ethical and results-driven aesthetics, and where every person felt seen, supported, and educated. That vision became Face Haven Aesthetics.

In 2021, my husband and I moved from Northern California to San Diego with a dream and a vision. Since then, we’ve been building side by side – supporting one another’s careers and pouring our energy into our goals. It’s been an incredible chapter of momentum, growth, and alignment.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Balancing and growing two businesses has been both challenging and rewarding. My husband Josh is a realtor in San Diego with Compass and The Canter Group, and he also runs a luxury vacation rental company, NXT Vacation Rentals. His dedication to his own work and unwavering support of mine have played a big role in the growth of Face Haven Aesthetics, and I’m grateful we get to build something meaningful together.

This journey has taken a lot of trust, resilience, and heart. Starting something from the ground up isn’t without its learning curves, but I’ve always stayed rooted in why I began. The vision for Face Haven Aesthetics has unfolded gradually, and each step forward has been built with intention and belief.

One of the most significant challenges has been the internal work – rebuilding self-belief, releasing self-doubt, and working through the fears and blocks that inevitably arise on this kind of journey. That process of inner growth has been just as essential as any external effort, and it’s something that continues to evolve alongside my business.

Q: Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?

Every chapter of growth comes with lessons, and while the path hasn’t always been easy, it’s been filled with purpose. The challenges along the way have allowed me to evolve, deepen my vision, and refine my focus.

The biggest turning points have come through learning more about myself, working through limiting beliefs, confronting fear, and stepping into a more empowered version of who I am. Those moments of uncertainty have become defining moments for clarity, and they’ve reminded me that growth often comes from the most unexpected places.

The process of building Face Haven Aesthetics has taught me to trust myself, embrace imperfection, and lean into both the science and soul of this work. It’s not just about external transformation, it’s about helping people feel their best from the inside out.
