Hi Oscar, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I began working in restaurants as a line cook, including helping open the first Buffalo Wild Wings in Chula Vista. I later transitioned to Dave & Buster’s, where I spent several years gaining valuable experience in fast-paced kitchen operations. While working, I also attended college classes, which sparked my interest in business and entrepreneurship.
During one of my classes, we were assigned a project to create and launch a small business. That project became the foundation for Terrific Tacos. After sharing the idea with my family and friends and receiving their strong support, I gained the confidence to turn it into a real business.
Today, Terrific Tacos provides a high-quality, full-service taco experience for events of all sizes. We focus on fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and excellent customer service to make every event special. What started as a class project has grown into a trusted local catering business, built on hard work, consistency, and a passion for creating memorable experiences through food
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Running Terrific Tacos has been a journey filled with challenges that tested both my business and my personal strength. During the pandemic, the food industry was hit hard, and keeping the business alive while also supporting my family and raising my kids became extremely difficult. There were moments of uncertainty, long hours, and financial stress that made it feel like everything was on the line. On top of that, one of my trucks, which was essential for transporting equipment, supplies, and serving events, was stolen, creating a major setback after all the time, effort, and resources that had been invested. Even through those hardships, I refused to give up. I stayed focused on rebuilding, showing up for my customers, and pushing forward. Those experiences shaped Terrific Tacos into a stronger, more resilient business, built on perseverance, dedication, and the belief that no matter how tough things get, you keep moving forward and stay terrific.

Knowing that something I created can bring people together, create memories, and be part of someone’s special day is incredibly fulfilling.
