Exploring Life & Business with Yahaira Hudson of YH HR Consulting LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yahaira Hudson.

Yahaira Hudson

Hi Yahaira, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my career in HR about 15 years ago. Early on, I found myself assisting family & friends, who owned their own business with their HR questions. I would often hear, “You should start your own consulting business.” However, I was already committed to a 9-to-5 job. As I progressed in my career, encouragement from mentors, friends, and family led me to consider consulting. Eventually, I took the plunge and established my own HR consulting business, where I now help both nonprofits and for-profit organizations with their HR needs.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a rollercoaster for sure. I appreciate every turn and dip because it teaches me to pivot and review what I am doing to ensure it aligns with my values and my areas of focus. HR I know, but being a business owner has it’s own learning curve and adjustments.

We’ve been impressed with YH HR Consulting LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I provide customized HR solution that best meets the needs of my clients. I take a personalized approach to every client, tailoring solutions to address their specific needs and objectives. Whether they are a small startup or a thriving enterprise, I am committed to guiding them through the HR landscape with expert advice and innovative strategies.

What sets us apart is our commitment to understanding each client’s specific challenges and objectives. We view challenges as opportunities for growth, taking the time to learn about your business and the obstacles your business is facing. This allows us to develop HR solutions that best address your unique needs, ensuring you can focus on what you do best.

One of the aspects we are most proud of is our dedication to staying current with ever-changing State and Federal employment laws. We ensure compliance, implementation, and understanding of these regulations so that our clients don’t have to worry about it. This meticulous attention to detail and our proactive approach to regulatory changes are hallmarks of our service.

At YH HR Consulting, we take pride in our personalized approach, industry expertise, and unwavering commitment to client success. Our goal is to provide solutions that not only meet but exceed the expectations of those we serve.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Mentors are all around you, potential mentors might already be in your network, so observe the people around you and identify what sets them apart. I have several mentors for different areas of my business and personal life.

Most of us already have a networking group, for me that is my personal friends, they were the first networking group I belonged to. My friends know what I do and would come to me for guidance on HR, I would go to them for guidance on their areas of expertise and we always recommend each other. Start by putting yourself out there by joining groups or attending events where you can meet these people. Treat every meeting, event, or casual gathering as a potential networking opportunity, as you never know when a conversation might lead to a valuable connection. Consistently share what you do and your goals, as you never know when something you said at a meetup might trigger someone to recommend you or offer valuable advice. By leveraging existing relationships, diversifying your mentorship, and viewing every interaction as a networking opportunity, you can build a robust support system and create valuable connections over time.
