Today we’d like to introduce you to Yessenia Gonzalez.
Hi Yessenia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey started in 2020, when the world shut down. I was coming from the restaurant industry and in the midst of not knowing what the future was going to look like I really had to examine my next steps. This brought on a lot of self discovery. That is when I stumbled into the Real Estate industry. An undeniably resilient and constant industry here in San Diego, CA. I started cold calling for my brother in law, hoping to have the right conversation with the person who was looking to sell their apartment buildings. This only lasted so long before the world started opening up again and realized I needed a job. That is when I became the Director of First Impressions, fancy title for receptionist, at a Real Estate Brokerage in Chula Vista. This started my journey into the Brokerage world. I was taken under the wing of two Real Estate pillars of the community and I became a sponge to learn everything I possibly could. Reflecting back, my mind is always trying to solve problems and make processes more efficient. I went from receptionist, to executive assistant, to Director of Operations in the matter of 3 years. During those 3 years, I had countless conversations with Realtors and Lenders. Listening to what their pain points were, where their businesses could improve, and just genuinely getting to know the business and the needs of the industry. After my journey in the Brokerage world, I spent some time in the non-profit sector and this is where I double downed on the importance of financial coordination, relationship management, leadership, and overall operations. A little about myself is I thrive in collaborative environments where we share a common goal and I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit, where I wanted to start my own business. That is where my business, Y-Factor Consulting comes in. I had the idea to start a business where I automize and systematize the follow up of sales persons CRM. The goal was to help, at first, Realtors and Lenders enhance their client retention and in turn grow their business. I’m growing into different industries like Investment Advisory Industry, Retail and E-Commerce, and Advertising & Media.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
All roads worth going down are not smooth. Starting a business impacts all aspects of your life. Your physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social and relational health. It comes for your financial well-being, and overall intellectual growth. Starting and growing a business, as your full time job, is not for the weak. There are many tests. I was and continue to be tested in all of those areas. A main struggle for me and I believe for most people in my position is finding the line between pushing forward and knowing when to ask for help from those around you. Suffering in silence isn’t always the best option, it makes for a good story but I think that’s about it.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Y Factor consulting aims to increase your client follow up which results in more referrals, enhanced client retention, and overall business growth. I work with business owners who want to automize and systemize their lead follow up from initial meet to their anniversary of the sale. I’m known for designing systems within your CRM that most sales people have just don’t have the time or desire to set up. What sets me apart is that I’m not AI, I’m a human with years of experience. I’m most proud of the reputation I’ve been able to build that signals trust, accountability, and competence.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’ve had countless amount of supporters, cheerleaders, and mentors. My family really supported me in letting me dream wildly and freely. My friends around me who were the driving force in going full time on Y Factor. All the people I’ve gotten to know on this journey who have reached out even with a simple congratulations add a little more fuel to my fire. Mentors are extremely important, I’ve had a couple and having someone to bounce ideas off of, to practice your pitch with, to give advice in general is priceless.
