Today we’d like to introduce you to Yulia Sachakova.
Hi Yulia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born in Russia and moved to Israel when I was eight years old. As a teenager, I was diagnosed with ADD, which made school challenging and often left me questioning my worth. Getting into university wasn’t easy, my grades weren’t strong enough at first, so I dedicated a full year just to improve my scores. That persistence paid off, and I was eventually accepted into nursing school in Israel. Those four years were tough, but I pushed through and earned my BSN.
At 26, I made the life-changing decision to move from Israel to San Diego. That transition came with its own challenges, my English was far from fluent, especially in medical terms, and my Israeli nursing license wasn’t valid here. I spent years studying, working, and saving while preparing for the board exam. Eventually, after four years of effort, I passed and officially became a licensed RN in the U.S.
I began my career in nursing homes and later worked through travel agencies. During the pandemic, I found myself working 16-hour shifts every day until I completely burned out. I realized I needed a path that aligned more with my spirit, one that allowed for deeper human connection and balance. That’s when I discovered aesthetics.
In aesthetics, I finally felt at home. It allowed me to combine my clinical background with artistry, while helping people feel good in their own skin. After working for others, I realized I had my own vision of how care should be delivered, more personal, more connected, and more transformative. That inspired me to open my own business.
Three months ago, I opened Iconic Beauty Medspa right in the heart of La Jolla, a dream I’ve carried for many years. Today, I feel truly aligned with my purpose: helping people look and feel their best, while building something of my own that reflects my values and passion.
At the same time, I knew that earning my BSN wasn’t the end of my education. I wanted to prove to myself and to others – that my ADD may make the journey harder, but it will never stop me from achieving what I set my heart on. I am now in my second year of my master’s program to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. This step not only deepens my clinical knowledge and ensures my clients’ safety, but also fulfills my personal mission to keep growing, no matter the obstacles.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. When I moved from Israel to San Diego at 26, I experienced a huge culture shock. It took me a long time to find my people here and to feel at home. On top of that, the language barrier made everything more difficult, from daily communication to understanding medical terminology. Finding a job was also challenging, especially in aesthetics. No one wanted to hire me without experience, and the places I did work for weren’t willing to invest in my education.
Every penny I earned, I saved for training, classes, and courses that I attended on my own. I had to invest in myself because I believed in my vision, even when others didn’t. It was also hard to find true mentors or people who were willing to guide me. This industry can be very competitive, and at times I felt like I had to figure everything out by myself. Even now, I still see that competitiveness, but I hold a different belief: that we can all work side by side and still support each other’s businesses.
Looking back, all of these struggles such as the culture shock, the language barrier, the long road to licensure, the financial sacrifices for education, and the lack of guidance taught me resilience and independence. They pushed me to grow not just as a nurse, but also as a person and a business owner.
We’ve been impressed with Iconic Beauty medspa, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Iconic Beauty Medspa, everything begins with the belief that beauty is deeply personal. No two clients are alike, which is why I focus on creating individualized treatment plans that are tailored to each person’s goals and needs. My approach combines medical expertise with an artistic eye, so whether I’m enhancing facial balance or rejuvenating the skin, the result always looks natural, harmonious, and true to the client.
I specialize in facial balancing, skin rejuvenation, and tightening treatments. From dermal fillers and neurotoxins to advanced therapies like RF microneedling, PRP, PDGF, exosomes, and salmon PDRN, I offer a wide range of services designed not only to refresh someone’s appearance but also to restore their confidence. What sets Iconic Beauty apart is the environment I’ve created – calm, welcoming, and full of support. Clients don’t just receive treatments; they feel cared for, listened to, and valued.
What I’m most proud of brand-wise is the trust my clients place in me. They know that their safety and well-being always come first, and that I approach every treatment with integrity, precision, and genuine care. My goal isn’t just to make someone look good for the moment, but to create long-lasting results that make them feel empowered in their own skin.
For readers who may be new to aesthetics, I want them to know that Iconic Beauty Medspa is a place where they will be guided step by step, with honesty and transparency. I take the time to educate, answer questions, and make sure every person feels comfortable before moving forward. My mission is to bring out the best version of each client, in a way that feels authentic and true to them.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The best way people can work with me is by booking a consultation at Iconic Beauty Medspa. I love taking the time to meet new clients, listen to their goals, and create a personalized plan that helps them feel confident and comfortable in their own skin. Whether it’s facial balancing, skin rejuvenation, or simply guidance on where to start, I always welcome the chance to connect.
I’m also open to collaborations, and one of the ways I love doing that is through private events such as Botox parties. These are fun, intimate gatherings where friends can come together to learn more about aesthetics, ask questions in a comfortable setting, and enjoy treatments in a supportive group environment. Beyond that, I believe in community over competition, so I’m always open to partnering with professionals who share the same vision of empowering people through health, beauty, and self-care.
For readers who simply want to support my journey, the best way is through referrals, sharing my work with friends, or engaging with my content on social media. Every bit of support, big or small, helps me continue building a space where people feel safe, cared for, and inspired.
