Francisco & Yadira , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
What I’m most proud of building — that nobody really sees — is the trust and connection we create with our customers. From the very first phone call to the final goodbye, people often tell us they feel like they’re in good hands with people they can genuinely relate to — not just hiring a crew to show up and leave. We’re not just there to remove unwanted items — we’re there to make the process easy, respectful, and even uplifting. That lasting impression of care, reliability, and understanding is what we’ve built, quietly and consistently, job after job.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Haul Away Any Day, a family-owned and operated junk removal company based in San Diego, is built on trust, hard work, and genuine connection. We offer residential, commercial, and construction debris removal services — helping homeowners, renters, realtors, property managers, and contractors clear out unwanted items quickly and responsibly. But what truly sets us apart is the care we bring to every job. From the very first phone call to the final goodbye, our goal is to make people feel stress-free, never judged or embarrassed, and confident that they’re in good hands.
What started as a small family effort has grown into a trusted name in our community. Our customers often tell us we feel more like a helping hand than just a hauling service — and that’s exactly what we aim for. We show up on time, treat every space with respect, and always look for ways to go the extra mile.
Right now, we’re working on growing our team and upgrading our equipment, but what excites us most is expanding partnerships that allow us to give back by helping keep our city clean. We’re actively getting involved in community clean-up projects and city-wide clean-out events because making a positive impact beyond our regular jobs is at the heart of what we do. For us, it’s not just about hauling junk — it’s about creating a cleaner, healthier environment for everyone.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
One moment that really shaped how I see the world happened early on in our junk removal work. We were helping a family clear out decades of accumulated stuff after a loved one had passed away. Among the items were photos, letters, war recognitions — sometimes even someone’s full life story packed away in boxes. Watching how attached they were to these belongings made me realize how much stories, memories, and emotions are tied to what we keep around us.
We took the time to inform ourselves and learned that military memorabilia could be donated to the Miramar museum. We made that special trip, and it truly filled our hearts knowing that this soldier’s hard work and sacrifice — risking his life for our freedom — would have a respectful, honored place to be preserved.
That experience stayed with me and changed how I see the work we do every day.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You don’t have to have it all figured out — just keep showing up, working hard, and staying true to who you are. The right path will come with time, and every struggle is shaping something stronger in you.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
The ideas we rely on most — that aren’t our own — come from each other. As husband and wife and co-leaders of our business, we approach every decision as a team. We each bring different strengths and perspectives to the table, and that balance has been key to our growth. Whether it’s strategy, customer service, or operations, we constantly exchange ideas to find the most effective solutions. Our ability to collaborate and challenge one another respectfully is one of the strongest assets in our business.

A false label we still hear is, “Oh, they just pick up trash.” But what we do goes far beyond that. We give unwanted items a second chance — whether it’s through donating, recycling, or repurposing. We pick up what others leave behind so our creeks, beaches, and neighborhoods can stay clean. We sort and recycle to keep as much as possible out of the landfill.
Our long-term vision is to grow a company that not only serves the community, but also educates it. We want people to understand that junk removal can be responsible, sustainable, and even impactful. Through every job, we’re showing customers that proper disposal matters — and that small choices, like who you hire to haul your junk, make a big difference in the long run.
