Kat, thanks for joining us again. We’re so excited to have a product focused conversation today. Can you bring our readers up to speed on the product side?
The Sugarwitch Co. proudly presents our top 11 allergen free Safe & Soft Solid Lotion – we have both a large lotion bar version and a smaller salve version, both using the same formula with minimal ingredients and free of gluten, coconut, and the top 11 allergens.
As a person severely allergic to coconut, it’s terribly difficult to find a moisturizer free of coconut products. Coconut based ingredients have a bunch of different chemical names, some of the most common being laureates, myristates, glycerin, and caprylic triglycerides. These are all used as emulsifiers, which help lotions and makeup feel smooth. Unfortunately, these can also be drying, and for coconut-allergic people, dangerous. In today’s market, I have been unable to find a single lotion without glycerin or some kind of uncomfortable oily residue. Not wanting to be dry, I developed a lotion that solved this issue for me.
Our lotion bars and salves are perfect for healthcare workers, food service workers, teachers, and kids as their top 11 allergen free formula keeps others safe. These are also great for construction workers and welders as their fragrances are natural and low profile, gender neutral, and heal hands from overuse and exposure. We are glad to provide a unique product suitable for as many people as possible.
Do you have any interesting customer success stories you can share about folks for whom your product was a great fit?
I have a customer who works at a restaurant and is very mindful of her customers. Because of her attention to allergies, although she herself did not suffer from food allergies, she knew many of her trusting customers would, and having to wash her hands often, our solid lotion was a great fit. It is free of the top 11 allergens, so she did not have to worry about touching a plate and a customer mysteriously getting ill from any residues.
Is there a core message, value or ethos you are trying to communicate through your branding and marketing?
Our core value is accessibility and reaching those who need it. Our items are not expensive, but they cover a niche area in the food allergy community because food allergies affect more than just eating. Those who have allergies usually spend significantly more money on items of questionable worth, and this is not their fault as allergies either come at birth or are acquired.
When we market our product, we also want customers to know that they do not have to have allergies to benefit from our items. They can enjoy them or use them if they are around folks with allergies or even as a preventative for when they do not know whether a person is allergic to anything or not.
What are you most thankful for?
I am grateful for people advocating for folks who have food allergies and other severe allergies. These may be folks suffering from allergies themselves, family, friends, or people working in fields in which they are exposed to many people who must deal with food allergies.
By continuing to keep others educated about the dangers of food allergies, we can stop the jokes made in poor taste about food allergies and teach people that Epi pens are not fun to experience. We can make the world a safer place taking the small steps needed to help others.
