Today we’d like to introduce you to Aimee Crist.
Hi Aimee, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I experienced a transformative “white flash” moment-a near-death experience that profoundly changed my perspective and set me on a journey of personal growth, healing, and a renewed sense of purpose. This pivotal event inspired me to dedicate my life to helping others unlock their potential and live with intention.
My background is in sales, training, and business development, I have spent over 20 years guiding individuals and groups toward meaningful transformation in business and life.
Through Living Spree, I combine
my expertise in personal development with a genuine passion for community-building. My mission is to empower people to exceed their goals, reconnect with their purpose, and master their lives. Whether through podcasts, online courses, keynote speaking, or community events, my goal os always to inspire others to live their best, and most purposeful lives, every day,
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been bumpy and failing forward is my motto! Tech struggles, self doubt, taking the ‘no’ too personally and wondering if this is the path forward creeps into everyone’s mind. If you aren’t failing, you are not taking risks! Taking action and failing as fast as possible gets you to the next success. Fall down 7 times, get up 8!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Living Spree?
At Living Spree, we believe that life is meant to be lived fully—with passion, purpose, and joy. Too often, people find themselves merely surviving, stuck in routines that leave them feeling disconnected and unfulfilled. Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Building meaningful connections and finding mentors can be transformative for your personal and professional growth. Here’s how to approach it effectively, using two types of mentors as examples: someone you want to be like (a senior mentor) and a peer mentor.
1. Identify Your Goals and What You Need
Before reaching out, clarify what you want to learn or achieve. Are you seeking guidance on career strategy, skill development, or navigating challenges? Understanding this helps you target the right people and ask focused questions.
2. Finding a Senior Mentor: Someone You Want to Be Like
Example: Imagine you admire a leader in your field who has built a career path you aspire to follow.
– Do Your Homework: Learn about their background, achievements, and interests. Follow their work on social media, read their articles, or listen to their talks.
– Make a Thoughtful Introduction: When you reach out, personalize your message. Mention what specifically inspires you about their journey and how their insights could help you grow.
– Be Respectful of Their Time: Senior mentors are often busy. Start by asking for a brief conversation or advice on a specific topic rather than a long-term commitment.
– Show Your Commitment: Share what you’ve already done to develop yourself and how you plan to apply their guidance. This demonstrates you value their time and expertise.
– Build the Relationship Gradually: Mentorship often evolves naturally. Stay in touch by sharing updates, asking occasional questions, and expressing gratitude.
3. Finding a Peer Mentor: Someone at Your Level
Example: A colleague or friend who is on a similar career path but may have different experiences or strengths.
– Look for Mutual Growth: Peer mentors offer support through shared challenges and can provide fresh perspectives.
– Be Open and Collaborative: Approach peer mentoring as a two-way street where you both learn and grow.
– Create Regular Check-Ins: Schedule informal chats or accountability sessions to discuss goals, share resources, and celebrate wins.
– Leverage Each Other’s Networks: Peers can introduce you to their contacts, expanding your circle and opportunities.
– Encourage Honest Feedback: Since you’re at similar stages, honest and constructive feedback can be invaluable.
4. Networking Tips to Support Mentorship
– Attend Industry Events and Workshops: These are great places to meet both senior professionals and peers.
– Engage Online: Join relevant social media groups, forums, or communities (like LinkedIn or specialized platforms).
– Volunteer or Collaborate: Offering your skills on projects or events helps build genuine connections.
– Be Authentic: People respond best when you’re genuine and curious.
– Follow Up: After meeting someone, send a thank-you note or message to keep the conversation going.
Mentorship is about connection, trust, and mutual respect. Whether learning from someone you admire or growing alongside a peer, the key is to be intentional, proactive, and open-hearted. Over time, these relationships can become invaluable sources of inspiration, guidance, and support on your journey.
