Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Gonzalez.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always been interested in fashion and beauty since I was 13. When Covid hit my two 6-year- olds (Twins) stopped going to school, while the entire world was figuring out how to calm the pandemic and continue education.
My husband Pablo and I didn’t have help with child care and weren’t able to afford daycare. Not being able to find care for them, Pablo and I decided I should stop working. I still felt I needed to have a source of income. We both created “Pink Spores“ an online jewelry store based on gold-filled jewelry.
I worked on Pink Spores for a while but then I started to look into lashing. Honestly, before I started Pink Spores, I was hesitant on what to start first, either jewelry or lashing. I spoke to some friends that lashed as well and felt more couraged to start to have a consistent income. That’s when in late August 2021 I started to learn how to lash. I was practicing on my family and friends. Being home-based while I also took care of my family needs. As time went by, I really wanted my own space to lash.
That’s where Emerald lash came into play. Pablo and I invested into a shed, converted it into a lovely studio. That’s when everything came together. I looked into beauty school and enrolled in December 2021 to become a licensed esthetician. I graduated in May, 2022 as a trained esthetician.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Having to stop working during Covid was rough. Helping my kids with “virtual school” and trying to focus on a startup. Wasn’t easy at all, but we all live and learn.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At the moment Emerald Lash is focused on Lash Extensions and Lash Lifts. I do have plans for providing facials and other services in the near future.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I live in South East San Diego in the community of Logan heights. I love having the majority of my family nearby. Having beaches, restaurants, bars, and parks within a short distance.
