Today we’d like to introduce you to Anahiz Alaniz.
Hi Anahiz, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born and raised in Mexicali, Baja California. Since I was a child, I have always felt captivated by San Diego. I remember fondly visiting the city once a month as a family activity. Engraved in my memory is seeing the city from the freeway and thinking that someday I would be here. Ever since I was in college, preparing myself to become a lawyer, I would tell my parents that someday I would continue my education in San Diego. Even with the intricacies of my career, the desire to follow my dreams would bring me here, to San Diego. Fresh out of college, I practiced law as a corporate attorney in Mexico, meanwhile, my taste for business and entrepreneurship grew. I am fortunate to come from a hard-working family, dedication and perseverance have always been the examples given by my parents. My parents have always been a great source of inspiration, I will forever be grateful to them.
Long story short, after a few years I decided it was time to start getting closer to my goal. I started knocking on doors, looking for opportunities and after knocking on more than 100 doors, one opened, I did not hesitate and took advantage of it. It was there when my dream of studying and developing professionally in this city began, I started working as a receptionist in a tax consulting office and although it was not my ideal job, I knew it could be the beginning of what I longed for. At the beginning, my future was not at all clear, but I would never desist. A couple of years later I was able to study a master’s degree at a university in San Diego. Today I can say that I am working on an area I am very passionate about, being an instrumental piece in developing business projects.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Undoubtedly, one of the challenges was living away from my family and the anxiety I felt due to the uncertainty of the unknown. Specifically, about business-related challenges, it is essential to be constantly innovating, creating new business models, surrounding yourself with key people, and forming strategic alliances.
