Today we’d like to introduce you to Angie Rodriguez.
Angie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
For as long as I can remember, I have always had the desire to be a small business owner. At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, just before they shut down in 2020, I began to craft as a way to relax and enjoy “me time”. The transition from working full time in downtown to working from home, homeschooling my oldest child and caring for my son was tough, but crafting was just for me and it gave me something to keep my mind off of the unknown.
A couple of weeks before Mother’s Day, I began making custom Mother’s Day plaques to give as gifts to friends and family members and I was encouraged by a few of those recipients to sell my plaques, so that is exactly what I did! I was absolutely blown away when I received an influx of 40+ orders the week leading up to Mother’s Day.
Shortly after that, I realized how much I enjoyed making custom items for others and I quickly began to offer more custom items such as shirts, tumblers, signs and much more.
My business is still fairly small, but the growth I have had in the last 1.5 years is nothing short of amazing! I have big dreams for my business and hope to expand on my custom items and areas of expertise in 2022!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been 100% smooth sailing! Crafting has become extremely popular and everyone wants to have a side hustle (which I truly admire so much)! With that, however, comes a lot of competition. I truly believe in community over competition and I love having the opportunity to meet and connect with other small business owners, however, one thing I struggle with from time to time is getting stuck in the comparison trap. It can be tough to deal with, but I always tell myself that my customers purchase me, not just an item from my business! They appreciate the care that I put into my items, the professional service that I offer and my caring personality.

Glam Creations By Angie is a one-woman show! When you order anything from my business, the entire order is handled solely by me from start to finish!
I pride myself on offering stellar customer service and amazing custom gift items to my customers. I always strive to create a pleasant and positive experience for my customers so that when they need any custom items, they know exactly who to go to and they’re excited to work with me again!
