Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Landis.
Hi Christine, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my career as Vice President at NCC, the fintech company my mother founded. When she passed away suddenly, I stepped into the role of President & CEO far sooner than expected. Running the company alone was a different kind of challenge—I quickly realized scaling wasn’t about doing more, but hiring and delegating strategically. I built teams, hired a bookkeeper to replace my mom’s role, brought in client service staff, and invested in automation. That shift—from doing it all myself to building systems—helped NCC grow into an industry leader, competing with publicly traded companies before I ultimately sold it for eight figures. At 36, I retired.
When I launched Peacock Parent, I applied the same principles: listen first, build trust, and create scalable systems. For a full year before launch, I focused solely on community—no sales, just conversations. I engaged with parents, provided free resources, and built relationships to understand their real needs.
Proxy by Peacock Parent was born out of the same realization that led me to create Peacock Parent in the first place: parents need more support, but they don’t always know where to find it—or how to ask for it. While Peacock Parent focuses on equipping families with free tools and frameworks to delegate tasks, Proxy takes it a step further by acting as a matchmaker by connecting parents to time saving services they can start using today.
I kept hearing the same thing from busy parents: I know I need help, but I don’t have time to figure out what to delegate or who to trust. That’s where Proxy comes in. It’s a high-touch, done-for-you service that helps parents outsource the mental load, which comes down to delegating the tasks you dread doing. Whether it’s finding a last-minute babysitter, thinking through meal planning for the week, booking a handyman, or having a hairstylist or yoga instructor come to your home (because it’s too hard to get out the door with a newborn!). Instead of parents spending hours researching and managing logistics, we source the best solutions for them—and we speak to you like a trusted friend who understands family life. There’s no marketing lingo in our writeups – we break everything down for you based on our experience with the service and provide transparent pricing so that you have all the information you need upfront to make a decision.
Peacock Parent is the larger umbrella brand focused on helping parents rethink the value of their time at home, while Proxy is the hands-on solution that actually vets the right services to hire and do the work for them. You can think of Proxy as the premium, concierge-level extension of Peacock Parent—taking the philosophy of delegation and putting it into action so you can hire someone to help today, and not put it off or get sidelined from all time suck of researching and dreading the process of finding help.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The first company I sold was B2B, and required no social media marketing outside of LinkedIn, and even less of a reliance on SEO. Tradeshows, relationships, and quality results above all were the key to making sales in the casino world. We did a great job asking questions of our clients, observing what worked and didn’t, and staying super nimble. Product innovation kept us ahead of our competition, not marketing tactics.
My business experience did not prepare me for the B2C world. Founding Peacock Parent felt like sending myself back to business school and getting a self-taught masters in 6 months! I had to learn a completely new marketing vertical, while launching a platform based on only thought leadership. How can you ask the hard questions, make observations, and provide solutions when you have no followers on day one or even a product to sell?
Learning how to build credibility, trust, and establish expertise in a remote working world has been the most humbling experience. It takes patience to build a platform (and entrepreneurs don’t always have that skill – we want change, and we want it fast!). It was tough to see such slow growth in those early months, but like all entrepreneurs it took an intense belief in our mission to keep going. The biggest lesson I’ve learned about social media marketing thus far is to say what you mean – you will inevitably offend and possibly not capture as large of an audience but the people that do find you will be yours to grow and engage with long term.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Peacock Parent helps families delegate the tasks they dread and buy back time for the things they love. Parenthood comes with an overwhelming mental load, and we equip families with the tools, resources, and connections they need to effectively outsource the low-joy tasks that drain their time and energy. By normalizing delegation at home – not just at work – we empower parents to focus on what matters most: being present with their children, strengthening their relationships, and preserving their own well-being. Our mission is to shift the outdated mindset that parents must do everything themselves, replacing it with a more sustainable approach rooted in joy, balance, and support.
That’s why we created Proxy by Peacock Parent – a personalized matchmaking service designed to connect parents with high-quality, vetted service providers who can truly lighten their load. Whether it’s meal prep chefs, family assistants, postpartum doulas, or mobile wellness services, we curate trusted professionals, negotiate exclusive perks, and ensure each match fits a family’s specific needs and budget. Proxy does the legwork, so parents don’t have to.
For example, if a family is bogged down with administrative tasks, we may recommend three tiers of support – ranging from a virtual assistant at $99/month to a mobile assistant at $45/hour. Subscription pricing starts at $60/month and includes an average 20% discount on most services. What makes Proxy unique is that we don’t white-label services or take referral fees -we’re self-funded and solely focused on maximizing value in the form of time and joy.
One of our subscribers, a first-time mom, came to us feeling completely overwhelmed in the early weeks of newborn life. Through Proxy, we matched her with a postpartum doula, a meal service tailored for postpartum recovery, and a laundry pickup provider. With research and decision-making off her plate, she could rest, recover, and bond with her baby – confident that the help she received was trusted, high-quality, and within her budget.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Best: The small neighborhood feel of our communities. San Diego has all the perks of being a big city – world-class theater, professional sports teams, nationally recognized museums and parks – but each neighborhood still feels warm, welcoming, and familiar. It’s the local charm that makes me love it here.
Least: The traffic! Growing up in Mission Hills, I could almost get anywhere in 15 minutes. Now, depending on the time of day, that same trip can take 45 minutes to an hour. That part definitely is not my favorite.
Pricing:
- $240 for 3 month
- $360 for 6 months
- $480 for 12 months
