Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciara Cusseaux.
Hi Ciara, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After developing an appreciation for art in earlier years, I was inspired to receive formal training as a photographer. In 2006, I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Photographic Arts from Brooks Institute of Photography. Following a degree in photography, freelancing, and connecting with local photo studios made way to acquire experience and continue building a portfolio. Eventually, I formed my own business under my name to send a clear message that I provide boutique services, personal experience, and work closely and directly with my clients.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Well, there is the classic struggle of balance. I love what I do, and it’s important to me that I give my clients great customer care, so it’s easy to hyper-focus and get sucked into what feels like a time warp when it comes to work. I have two demanding roles as mother and a business owner, so the challenge accepted has been to remain balanced in the time and care I provide for both my family and clients.
As you know, we’re big fans of Ciara Cusseaux Photography. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
My goal is to work with sentimental, fun lovers who want to have a good time with their people. Whether photographing an intimate elopement or civil ceremony, or a full wedding day, the goal is to tell the story of the day. This is done by creating photos that are joyful and alive, just as my couples are joyful and full of emotion. Authentic emotions are captured as I candidly photograph spontaneity. I’m also mindful not to abandon traditional portraiture influences and make sure my clients have stylish and beautifully posed moments that capture the beauty of their story & relationships. Ultimately, stories of love are gorgeously captured from the proposal through the beautiful life that my couples build together. Anniversaries, pregnancy and adoptions, graduations. I document life.
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
My love for people continues to grow. It is so fortunate that what I do keeps me in an environment that causes my figurative heart muscles to grow. I learn a lesson on how to love and how to enjoy life at every wedding I photograph. Wedding photography comes with constant exposure to people who are gushing about wonderful memories. Guests go on and on about the beautiful qualities of the bride and groom. The bride and groom express their gratitude for their guests and the impact they made on their lives. I hear about life stories, life lessons and soak in so much graciousness. I am incredibly fortunate that my career exposes me to so much positivity and love!
