Today we’d like to introduce you to DeAndre Steward.
DeAndre, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have been in the fitness industry since the day I first put on a T-Ball helmet. Like most people who are into exercising now, I was introduced to it through sports and recreational activities. It wasn’t until my first place AAU Powerlifting Competition at the age of 16 in 2015 when I realized I only enjoyed the sports that I played because of the mental stress relief, the feeling of pushing my body to its limits, and overall health. After my separation from the U.S Army in 2020, I started my own fitness company, Stew’s Performance. Stew’s Performance is a fitness family where people of the San Diego community can laugh, sweat, reach their fitness goals, and enjoy a healthy lifestyle with like-minded people.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Since I started my business in a park and during the pandemic, business was very slow and a struggle. Not only that but I’m only 22 years old with knowledge but very little resources. Since my social media presence wasn’t that big, a lot of the time I drove all around San Diego passing out my business cards and offering free trial services to gain some clientele.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Stews Performance?

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Yes! Find someone or people who has the same mindset as you and who share similar goals. Getting to know people who are where you want to be and picking their minds in the best thing you can do. Learning from others in any field can always benefit you and your business in some type of way.
