Hi Deserae, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey into skincare started long before I ever held an esthetic license. I’ve always been fascinated by the way healthy, glowing skin can boost someone’s confidence — it’s like watching them step into their best self.
I became a Licensed Esthetician in 2009 and spent most of my early career in the laser and cosmetic industry, where I learned the power of pairing science with beauty. I was hooked.
I grew up in a small town in Colorado, but in my early twenties, I packed my bags and came to sunny San Diego with no plan — just passion. In 2006, I found my true calling when I began working in the laser and cosmetic industry, and that experience laid the foundation for everything I do today.
In 2019, I followed my dream and opened Desthetician Skincare — a place where clients could feel comfortable, cared for, and confident in their skin. Every facial, every treatment, is customized to fit each person’s unique needs because I believe skincare should never be one-size-fits-all. My mission is to help people feel as radiant on the outside as they are on the inside.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Yes, my business journey was a rough one. After taking the leap of faith and opening my business in 2019, I was quickly faced with the unexpected: a complete shutdown due to the pandemic. Overnight, my dream was put on pause. It was a constant battle to stay afloat, but I refused to give up. I used that time to refine my skills, strengthen my business foundation, and connect with clients in creative ways. In the end, those challenges made me more resilient and even more committed to my passion.

I specialize in customizable and corrective skincare, designing treatments that are as unique as each client’s skin. With years of hands-on experience — and an active role in the medical skincare industry — I’m able to stay on top of the latest innovations, trends, and technologies in skin health.
What truly sets me apart is the depth of my background and the incredible mentors I’ve had the privilege to work alongside — pioneers in laser technology and cosmetic dermatology, that were right here in San Diego. Those experiences have shaped my approach, blending advanced techniques with personalized care to deliver real, visible results.
Over the years, my work has been recognized and featured on Image Skincare’s official Instagram, and I’ve had the joy of collaborating with local businesses such as The Brow Room SD and Best Life Chiropractic to bring more self-care opportunities to our community.
