Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Robles.
Diana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, I am one of four sisters, I am second to the oldest. We moved to the US at 3 years old, my mother quickly fell into drugs and alcohol, our life spiraled out of control, I am experienced every form of abuse, by age 11, things got so bad we went into the foster care system. By age 14, my mother went to prison, and I was left to fend for myself; I was living on my own, working under the table with any job I could find, renting rooms at friends’ houses. Raised myself, put myself through school. I went into the fashion & merchandise marketing field and loved it, spent 6 years there, but it did not provide the security I craved so badly or the creativity to expand on my entrepreneurial calling. I always knew I had a passion for real estate; I loved the wealth-building tool that it is and the opportunity to be as creative or successful as you desire by putting in the hard work. I worked harder than I ever had before, countless hours, countless tears, and sacrifices but quickly learned it was exactly what I was made for. I became a sponge learning everything I possibly could from the best in the industry and applying it to my business, with my own spin in my own way. I quickly developed long-lasting relationships. And really became an advocate for so many of my clients, putting their needs before anything else. I went from closing four transactions my first year to 15 my second year, 30 transactions my third year, 40 transactions. My fourth, and now averaging about 50 transactions each year. This year I knew I had to scale my business yet again and get myself uncomfortable once more to achieve even more. I made the decision to partner up with The Oppenheim Group. Who you might have heard about in the Netflix series, Selling Sunset and Selling the OC… I have had the most amazing experience, and I am so excited to re-create what I have felt in the standard market, but now in the Luxury space. I believe with all my heart that the impossible is possible for those that believe it can be and for those that are crazy enough to go after it with all her heart. The driving force behind me is to break generational bondage us behind us and show my daughters and the rest of the women that it is possible to start with all the odds against you but pushing through.
Always honoring your past and never forgetting about where you came from, but staying ferociously loyal to your future.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has absolutely not been a smooth road; there were many countless nights of self-doubt and countless nights of frustration. As I mentioned, some of my initial struggles were just trying to sustain myself, but also sustain myself emotionally and morally. Another struggle in my career was trying to learn everything while doing it all at the same time. I figure it out many ways that things didn’t work until I could figure out a way that it would.
As you know, we’re big fans of The Oppenheim Group. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
As I mentioned, I am part of The Oppenheim Group in La Jolla. We specialize in the luxury market space in San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange County annually, Cabo San Lucas office… We have an award-winning Netflix series, selling Sunset and Selling the OC, that has been amazing for brand recognition and elite real estate company and group of professionals.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
This city has given me so much; I love the upscale and versatile space that San Diego is and the beauty that it offers. I also love the fact that we have a big city field with beaches and mountains all around us, but in reality, San Diego is actually small and cozy and cozy as well. As a lifetime, San Diego, and I pride myself in this beautiful city and love its culture, architecture, and diverse vibe that it offers.
