Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have overcome many obstacles over the years, but no more than anyone else.

We’ve been impressed with California State University San Marcos, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I joined CSUSM in 1996 when the campus was only 6 years old. I was involved in creating many of the academic programs and policies of the campus. I was even on the committee that designed Markstein Hall – the home of the College of Business Administration.

When I joined CSUSM, we had only 4,000 students.

California State San Marcos is one of the largest startups in North County, San Diego. We offer Bachelors and Masters Degrees.

Today, we have over 13,000 students on campus across four colleges.

What does success mean to you?
For me, success means having the opportunity to do what you want to do and to enjoy doing it.

OF course, luck plays a role, and I have been very lucky,

More important than being lucky is realizing how lucky you are.
