Hidden Gems: Meet Grecia Ruiz of Italy Brides

Today we’d like to introduce you to Grecia Ruiz.

Grecia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
From Bride to Guide — How Planning My Italy Wedding Inspired a Business:

Italy Brides was born from my own experience as a DIY Italy destination wedding bride. When my husband and I got engaged in May 2021, we quickly realized our guest lists were dramatically different. He wanted a small, intimate gathering of 30 guests or fewer, while I pictured a celebration with 100 – 150 guests.

While discussing our wedding plans on a family vacation in Cancun, my now-husband proposed a compromise: “If we were to get married in Italy, would you agree to a guest list of 30 or less?” Before he could change his mind, I quickly exclaimed, “Deal!”

Fast forward to October 22, 2022 — we exchanged vows at the breathtaking Castello del Trebbio in Florence, Italy. After a year and a half of planning an international wedding, I cherished every moment of that magical day when my vision came to life. What I didn’t realize at the time was that this experience would inspire me to launch my own destination wedding planning business less than two years later.

After organizing a 3-week European trip, including our 3-day wedding, and honeymoon — for less than the average cost of a one-day wedding in California — I knew other brides needed to hear this: A destination wedding is more attainable than you think. From planning my own wedding abroad and helping another bride plan her Tuscany wedding this year, it became clear — more couples deserve to know that their dream wedding abroad isn’t just a fantasy.

I love helping brides turn their destination wedding dreams into reality — just like I did.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The Struggle Behind the Dream — Why I Created Italy Brides:

At Italy Brides, we are all about showing couples that planning a destination wedding in Italy is easier and cheaper than you think.

But — I learned this the hard way.

When I first set out to plan my own Italian wedding, I was on cloud nine until the reality of planning a wedding abroad struck me. I started to panic trying to figure out the logistics.

I remember thinking:

● “Where do I even start planning a wedding in Italy from the U.S.?”

● “Can I actually pull this off without a wedding planner?”

● “How will I choose the right vendors who are vetted, in my price range, and offer the quality I am looking for?”

● “Is it crazy to book a venue I’ve never seen before in person?”

Hiring a full-service destination planner was out of budget, but Google was a black hole of wedding blogs, outdated info, and vendors I didn’t know.

It all sounded too good to be true — but I was determined to have my (wedding) cake and eat it too 😉

So, I got scrappy. I leaned into my International Business degree, tapped into my 8+ years in project management, and treated my wedding like the most important project of my life (because it was).

I navigated all the destination wedding challenges head-on:

● Extensively researching and vetting vendors remotely

● Coordinating across time zones and languages

● Navigating cultural differences in pricing, contracts, and expectations

● Getting guests on board with an overseas celebration

● And yes — even getting married at a venue sight unseen, trusting it would be perfect (spoiler alert: it was!)

We pulled off our happily ever after: a dreamy, three-day wedding in Italy followed by a three-week romantic European honeymoon — for under $35k (less than a one-day wedding in California)!

Now, I’m sharing everything I learned so you don’t have to go through the same stress spiral I did. I’m here to hand you the roadmap I wish I had when I was planning my wedding:

✅ Trusted vendors, already vetted for quality and value

✅ A planning kit that turns chaos into calm

✅ Real guidance from someone who’s actually been there

So yes — you can plan your Italian wedding without flying out first. You can stay on budget without sacrificing the dream. And yes — you can have your (wedding) cake and eat it too 😉

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Italy Brides — Think “Dolce Vita” on a Budget:

Italy Brides is a planning experience designed for brides who want the romance of a destination wedding without the overwhelm or the high-ticket planner price tag.

At Italy Brides, we offer:

✅ A curated vendor list (no more hours wasted on Google)

✅ A plug-and-play planning toolkit with everything you need to plan like a pro (from timelines and budgets to guest communication templates)

✅ One-on-one consulting sessions for personalized guidance (without the cost of a full-service destination wedding planner)

What sets us apart? This isn’t theory. This is real-life, been-there guidance from someone who actually lived it—and made it work beautifully. I turned my experience into a repeatable process so more couples can say “I do” in Italy.

More than anything, I want you to know: Your Italy wedding is possible. You don’t need a bigger budget—just a better plan. And I’m here to help you make it magical.
