Today we’d like to introduce you to Gregg Anderson.
Gregg, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2014, my wife and I quit our day jobs and started 41 Orange, a company that specialized in event marketing. Fast forward to 2017 and we hired our first full-time employee and raised a private equity round that same year. In 2018 we tripled the size of the company and grew to15 full-time employees. When the pandemic hit in March of 2020, our business sustained a critical blow to revenue as more than 70% of our revenue was tied to event marketing services. The new company we started, Starting over a few weeks later, Origin 63 was born. Origin 63 specializes in HubSpot CRM strategy, implementation, training & support services. We’ve grown to a team of six full-time employees based throughout the Americas. Today we serve more than 40 companies nationwide, helping our clients maximize value from their sales and marketing technology, and optimizing their revenue operations (RevOps) investments.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to where we are today was not smooth, nor was it paved or even. When the pandemic hit, we had to lay off 15 full-time employees within 48 hours. That was extremely painful as our employees had become family members that we deeply cared for. This took a toll on both my business partner and me both personally and professionally. Other than having to start over from scratch, we faced a series of forks in the road and hurdles to overcome as any entrepreneur would.

Origin 63 specializes in sales, marketing, and customer service technology solutions (specifically for the HubSpot platform). We offer HubSpot onboarding, optimization, training, and technical support packages. We are ranked in the top 1% of HubSpot Partners out of more than 2,500 partners in North America.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I believe that luck certainly has its place in business. Luck comes in the form of being in the right place at the right time, with the right solution, and most importantly, finding the right people to surround ourselves with who can turn luck into value. Only 1 in 12 entrepreneurs succeed in building a successful business, and that doesn’t mean they succeed the first time around. I believe the entrepreneurs and executives can identify trends and opportunities that offer the best possible conditions to start and scale a successful company and to take advantage of luck.
