Hidden Gems: Meet Holly Tse of Holly Tse, LMFT

Today we’d like to introduce you to Holly Tse.

Holly, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
For most of us, life hasn’t unfolded as we imagined — and I am no exception. In working through my own struggles with family and relationship losses, I developed a deep longing to understand how people heal and grow. (It’s often our low points that lead us to ask the hard, but very important, questions!) After years of living and teaching overseas, my journey led me back home — both to my family and to the study of psychology and relationships. Before starting my own practice as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I spent several years working with foster youth in community-based mental health, which deepened my passion for strengthening families and communities too. Now, I love supporting individuals, couples, and families on their own path toward healing and wholeness. In 2024, my family and I made San Diego our home, and we’re excited to be part of and contribute to this incredible community!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As a therapist, the hardest part of the process is that we can’t give what we haven’t ourselves received. Learning how to heal and grow means continually doing the work, even as we guide others through their own journeys. For me, this has meant working through my deepest relational fears and taking risks that push me out of my comfort zone—whether that’s living abroad, becoming a foster mom, taking the leap to build my own family, or even learning to skateboard.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Holly Tse, LMFT ?
The vision behind my therapy practice is to create a space where individuals, couples, and families can find healing in their lives and relationships. I integrate EMDR, an evidence-based, somatic-centered approach to reprocessing distressing experiences, alongside other attachment-based, trauma-informed methods. Therapy with me is an authentic, collaborative space where we work together toward meaningful goals. Grounded in the science of attachment and the art of connection, my practice is built on the belief that lasting growth happens when we feel seen, supported, and truly safe.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was silly, sensitive, talkative. As a 90’s kid, I was all about the Disney movies (Aladdin was my favorite), beanie babies, and watching Full House!
