Hidden Gems: Meet Ileana De Hoyos of Ileana De Hoyos, Realty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ileana De Hoyos.

Hi Ileana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m a first-generation Latina from El Paso, Texas, raised in a hardworking family that shaped much of who I am today. I watched my parents work tirelessly to create stability and opportunity for us. My mom was a constant example of resilience, working multiple jobs, earning her Bachelor’s and later her Master’s degree, all while raising me and my siblings.

We didn’t grow up with a big house or fancy things, but my parents always prioritized our education and made the sacrifice of sending us to private school in our early years. That foundation instilled in me hard work, gratitude, and ambition.

As soon as I was able to, I moved to New York City and started my degree in Marketing at the Fashion Institute of Technology with big dreams of working in fashion. That chapter was full of exploration. I worked many different jobs, navigated creative industries, and learned more about myself than I ever expected.

New York challenged me, pushed me outside my comfort zone, and taught me how to communicate clearly, adapt quickly, and show up confidently in competitive spaces. Those lessons shaped me deeply.

Almost four years ago, I moved to San Diego with my now husband, ready for a new chapter. I was drawn to the lifestyle, the outdoors, and the sense of possibility here. After years of exploring different industries, one thing became clear: my greatest strength and passion was working with people. I wanted to build something rooted in service, relationships, and long-term impact.

Years ago, real estate may not have been on my list, but eventually I realized it was exactly where I was meant to be.

Despite being scared to step into something entirely new, I launched my real estate business with a focus on guiding first-time homebuyers through what can often feel like an overwhelming process, and providing them clarity and confidence. Buying or selling a home isn’t just a transaction, It’s a life milestone, and I take my role in serving my clients seriously.

As a first-generation American, homeownership represents more than just property to me. It represents stability, legacy, and opportunity. Helping others build that for themselves is incredibly meaningful.

Today, I’m growing my business in North County San Diego, building relationships, serving my community, and creating a brand that feels approachable, trustworthy, and empowering.

I’m still evolving and still learning, but every chapter, from El Paso to New York to San Diego, has shaped how I show up for my clients today.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In my 20s in New York, the challenges looked different. I struggled with direction. I moved between roles and industries, constantly questioning whether I was “behind” because I hadn’t found the one thing I was meant to do. For a long time, that uncertainty felt heavy.

Over time, I began to understand that growth isn’t linear. Every role, every pivot, and every uncomfortable stretch was equipping me with skills I would eventually rely on, communication, adaptability, resilience, and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

The biggest leap came when I decided to pursue real estate. Starting over in a new state where I didn’t know many people, in a highly competitive industry was intimidating. There were moments of doubt and fear, especially building a business from the ground up. It requires patience, consistency, and believing in your vision long before others can see it.

But that season of uncertainty ended up being preparation. It gave me the confidence to bet on myself, and that decision changed everything.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Ileana De Hoyos, Realtor?
I’m a residential real estate agent based in North County San Diego, working primarily with first-time homebuyers while also supporting sellers and move-up clients. I specialize in making the process feel clear, strategic, and approachable, especially for clients who may feel overwhelmed or unsure where to begin.

As a bilingual agent, I’m proud to serve both English- and Spanish-speaking clients, ensuring they feel fully informed and confident throughout every step of the process.

What sets me apart is the way I lead with education and transparency. I believe confident decisions come from understanding the process, not being rushed through it. My clients know I’ll advocate for them, communicate clearly, and guide them step by step.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of building something that feels both professional and personal. I want people to feel comfortable asking questions, empowered to make informed decisions, and supported long after the transaction closes.
