Hidden Gems: Meet Ivy Delaunay of Aura Skinsd

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ivy Delaunay.

Hi Ivy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I got my esthetician license in 2In007. 2010, I decided to advance my career and get my massage therapy license. I have worked in busy hotels, swanky spas, and private resort communities. In 2015 I attended a 4-day holistic skin retreat, and it changed the course of my life and career and how I wanted to show up as an esthetician. Covid hit the spa communities hard, and I was without work for almost a year. I decided to use that time to advance my knowledge by doing online advanced educational courses. I now have opened my own solo practice and am so excited to share my work and knowledge with my clients.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been a smooth road for me. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 35. At this point, I took a step back from esthetics and took time to heal myself physically and emotionally. I realized the use of toxic products was something that no longer would have a presence in my life. I set out to find ways to take care of myself and others in a more holistic way.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Aura Skinsd is new to San Diego. I moved here from Hawaii in October 2022. I left a busy practice in Hawaii to be nearer to my son and took a huge leap of faith, and opened with no clients. I have been growing slow and steadily, and love the way San Diego has really embraced me and my work. I specialize in Face, neck, and scalp soft tissue release and lymphatic drainage. Fascia (soft tissue) builds up in all of these areas and inhibits blood and lymphatic flow. This in turn, causes stagnation in these areas. It shows up on our skin as puffiness, dark under-eye circles, skin sensitivities, rosacea, and acne. improper flow also ages us prematurely by causing inflammation. I get deep into the neck area for release using my hands and my gua sha stones. working my way up the face releasing these areas, doing lymphatic work, and once everything is released, I can do in and sculpt and tone the muscles. This type of work brings an amazing glow and releases endorphins, which cause the face to soften. Other techniques I offer are facial reflexology, microcurrent to stimulate ETP, toning, and lifting the muscles, and am one of 500 providers worldwide that is certified in the QI beauty facial. This facial uses gold-plated magnets to return skin back to a healthy state and recharges cells to perform as a younger cell.
