Hidden Gems: Meet Jacquelyn Mendoza of San Diego Destination Weddings

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacquelyn Mendoza.

Jacquelyn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
When I moved to San Diego in 1999 my plan was to become a real estate agent. When planning my wedding, our guest list got way too big so we decided to elope. I found a wedding planner in San Antonio that provided an all-inclusive wedding package and my husband and I were married on the Riverwalk. We had had a beautiful intimate wedding!
It was very easy. All I had to do was give her the color of the flowers I wanted and the cake flavor . She set us up with the officiant and photographer. The wedding was beautiful. When I came home I tried to resume my studies for my real estate license. I found that I couldn’t concentrate and just kept thinking about weddings and why there was nothing like what I had experienced in San Diego.
From that moment on I put down the real estate books and decided to continue my research for weddings. I planned to offer all-inclusive wedding packages right here in San Diego. I spent six months researching, contacting vendors and building my website. In 2002, I put the website up and got a call the same day! Business continued to grow. I planned 15 weddings the first year, 30 the second year and the numbers continue to double. Since then, I have produced over 1000 weddings! I have recently expanded to provide my all-inclusive wedding packages at Airbnb homes all over California with www.BNBWeddingVenues.com

Wedding packages include full-service coordination, officiant, flowers, cake, Photography, DJ, venue, catering, bar, set up and clean up. All at one reasonable price. No need to spend a year sorting through vendors to find the best ones to work with, we have done that for you! Our packages are fully customizable so that each couple can express their unique style and vision for their wedding. We make wedding planning stress-free!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I feel like it’s been really easy for me! I work very hard to make sure that I work with the very best vendors. I meet and interview every venue representative, photographer, DJ, florist, caterer and bakery personally to make sure that everyone I work with is the very best! I think that this process has made it easy to provide amazing all-inclusive wedding packages for my couples. In the beginning, I may have had some challenges being taken seriously as a woman of color here, but things have really changed in that area and I have become will known and loved in the wedding business here.
