Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Danielle.
Hi Jamie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started as a private chef in San Diego, which led me to open a domestic staffing agency that’s placed household staff for 20 years. In 2020, I opened a brick-and-mortar in Rancho Santa Fe. When the building was sold in 2023 the new owners wanted retail shops, I pivoted to selling household goods, including holistic home care and a curated selection of kitchen and garden items to complement my staffing services.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been smooth. When I started my staffing agency, I had a lot to learn about running a business since I was used to working in the kitchen. When I opened my shop, I had no retail experience and was learning as I went. My location in Rancho Santa Fe is challenging because it’s tucked away in a courtyard, and the town is going through a revitalization, so foot traffic has been low. But I’m hopeful things are improving!
As you know, we’re big fans of The Household Company. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My business features a curated retail shop offering unique, hard-to-find everyday home goods sourced from around the world—carefully selected to complement and elevate the homes our staff serve. If you’re looking for quality items like German cleaning brushes, handmade brooms, organic and non-toxic cleaning products, or well-made garden and kitchen supplies, my shop is the place for you. I’m proud that I’ve taken risks along the way—I’m self-taught as a chef and learned how to run a business through hands-on experience, not formal schooling. I had no retail background and continue to learn and improve every day. I recently launched my own line of tableware called Alma, made with organic cotton and handwoven by a fifth-generation weaver. Alma means “soul,” and it reflects my passion for putting heart and soul into everything I do.
