Hi John, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Born and raised in North county San Diego. Raised on the water surfing and lifeguarding the beaches of Oceanside. Graduated from cal state maritime and joined the United States Merchant Marines. Went to see for nearly twenty years and worked my way up to Master, unlimited tonnage. Captained some
Of the world’s largest container ships and accumulated nearly 1.5 million miles at sea.
Retired from my sea going career to be spend more time at home with my two daughters. Purchased the sailing yacht Windchime in my home town of Oceanside to teach my daughters how to sail and enjoy all the same lessons I learned from going to sea.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I was at sea for 6-8 months a year for nearly 20 years. An ocean going career is very difficult.
