Hidden Gems: Meet Josette Alvarez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josette Alvarez.

Josette Alvarez

Hi Josette, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Before I chose a career in Real Estate, I was looking for a career opportunity that allowed flexible hours, no ceiling on how much money I could make, and something that was going to be long-term. I guess you could say I had the entrepreneurial spirit! A girlfriend of mine was telling me about how selling real estate affords her all of what I was looking for. So, without an ounce of knowledge or experience in real estate, I took a leap of faith and jumped right in! By nature, I am very thorough, detail-oriented, and ask a lot of questions. After I had a clear understanding of how real estate transactions transpired, I quickly realized how under-represented so many home buyers are sellers were. It was at that point that I made it a priority to educate my clients on the process of buying and selling so they felt empowered throughout the transaction. I wanted to provide the best representation to any home buyer or seller as they deserve.

Since then, my business has grown year over year. I partnered up with my current business partner, Jared Nelson, where him and I run our real estate team, LIV West Real Estate. Social media has been a large part of my business and how I stay connected with everyone.

Personal growth has run parallel to my growing business. Stepping outside of my comfort zone to do things to help grow my business and brand was something I found myself doing often. From appearing on radio shows to being casted on The American Dream TV and speaking engagements, I am constantly pushing myself and looking for an opportunity to grow, meet people, and learn from others.

I am incredibly grateful for the success and accolades my career has brought me. My end goal is for my success to allow for opportunities to give back to my community.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There’s this perception that even I was guilty of assuming that selling real estate is an easy paycheck. So much of it is glamorized (especially with the scripted reality real estate shows), but you don’t really understand how stressful and demanding it can be if you take it seriously and run it like a full-time business. Essentially, you are your own boss, which means you are the only one to hold yourself accountable. If you treat this like a business, you should be out there hustling (with heart) every day. If you are consistent, you will see results. If you’re not consistent and disciplined, your income can be unstable, leaving you to wonder if it’s worth it. When you do see the results, setting boundaries is crucial. Being able to carve out exclusive time for yourself and/or your family is necessary to sustain a balanced life and long-term, fruitful career. I should be taking a dose of my own advice! I still struggle with balancing a full-time, growing career, being a mom to three kids, being a wife, neighborhood volunteer coordinator, a friend, and making time for myself.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I help both buyers and sellers achieve their real estate goals. Starting as a solo agent and not being a part of a real estate team, I was able to learn both sides of a real estate transaction. This allowed me to really see how buyers and sellers think/feel during a sale. This is helpful for who I work with because I know how the other party thinks… great for negotiating!

In the past 10 years, I’ve also gained massive experience with contingent buyers and sellers because the market is prime for homeowners to sell their home to buy another. My bulletproof marketing plan has allowed for so many successful contingent sales. I do look for an opportunity to grow from each sale. I am always hungry to learn more so I can provide the best service for my clients.

People really know me and my brand for being my authentic self. Social media plays a big role in staying connected with so many friends and clients I have helped in the past. On my social media, I am pretty open and keep it real. I’ve shared personal stories, my morning routine to stay motivated, workouts, and sharing tips and tricks that help me on a day-to-day basis. My audience engages because it’s all relatable content. I have a good balance of real estate-related posts and Josette posts. People who really, really know me- know me for my sarcastic, dry sense of humor, passion for helping anyone in need, and know my love for music and a good sunset.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Integrity and accountability stand as the top two most essential qualities in a realtor, characterizing the essence of a reliable and trustworthy agent. A real estate agent with integrity adheres unwaveringly to ethical principles, ensuring transparency and honesty in all transactions. Clients place a premium on knowing they can trust their agent to act with their best interests in mind, fostering a sense of security in an otherwise intricate process. Additionally, accountability is paramount in a profession where precision and diligence are paramount. A responsible agent takes ownership of their actions, from accurate market analyses to timely communication, providing clients with the assurance that their investment is handled with the utmost care. These qualities not only build enduring relationships but also contribute significantly to the reputation and success of a real estate professional in a competitive industry.
