Hidden Gems: Meet Kristina Delaski of My Earth Potions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Delaski.

Hi Kristina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Hello! Thank you for having me. I have been pretty aware of recycling what I can and trying to reduce my carbon footprint (Shout out to Capitan Planet and my high school science teacher) since I was young. The realization, though, of actually having cleaner, plastic-free options for items we use daily, like deodorant, lotion, shampoo, didn’t truly click until I was in my early 20’s.

I was already making a few household cleaners and purchasing other natural body products, but most were packaged in plastic and the alternative was hard to come by. So, I started making my own deodorant and experimenting with pure ingredients. I shared what I was making with coworkers and one gal asked to buy my deodorant, and that was that.

I realized that I could share this with others, and provide an eco-friendly option, one swap at a time.

It’s been a challenging, yet rewarding journey so far and I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support and encouragement from my partner. She really believed in me and pushed me to grow.

I also owe much gratitude to my customers and those who have shared what I do. My business and growth wouldn’t exist without them.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No. Growth is rarely a straight line upwards. Growth is like a roller coaster. There are highs and there are lows and much of my journey has been trial and error, learning from what did or didn’t work. I think my biggest struggle is my imposter syndrome. Thinking, “Who am I to make these products and create this business?”, or not believing that I deserve this path that I have chosen.

I truly love creating clean and sustainable products for others and feeling like I’m making a difference, as small as it may be, but the business side of things is a struggle in itself as well. I’m still learning that persistence, confidence, and computer skills are key. haha

We’ve been impressed with My Earth Potions, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My Earth Potions is an Organic and Eco-friendly Skincare line that I started in 2019 because I saw a need for plastic-free, clean alternatives and wanted to live in a world that I am proud of. I love being able to create skincare products that are organic, ethically sourced, and plastic-free for others. I strive to be as sustainable as possible, with as little waste as possible. We live in a plastic-driven world, so of course, there are areas where you simply can’t avoid it, and that’s okay. I remember stressing over this for so long when I was starting my business. But the goal is to reduce our plastic waste as much as possible, be more mindful, and support businesses that align with this message. Ultimately, it’s the large corporations at fault, not us, but voting with our dollar and showing them what we believe is important CAN make a difference.

Our vegan and sensitive skin Deodorants, Anti-aging Face Oils, and Bug Repellent have been our best sellers.

I am so grateful that I get to create products for others that actually make a difference, as small as it may be, for our skin and the planet! I love our beautiful Mother Earth and hope to share that love through my products.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I would love to see my industry in more mainstream stores, to really bring this message to the everyday consumer. Those that may be wanting to shop cleaner or plastic free but don’t have easy access to said products or don’t know where to look. Honestly, I know this industry will be featured in mainstream stores within 10 years. We are making so much progress as of late and I am loving it! For my business personally, I would love to be featured on multiple online platforms that sell eco-friendly and plastic-free products, find my products on the shelves at Target, Whole Foods, etc., and not have to rely on farmers’ markets as much. I love markets and being able to talk to my customers face to face, but it would be so wonderful for the masses to find me in multiple places.
