Hidden Gems: Meet Lily Tran of Slay Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lily Tran.

Lily Tran

Hi Lily, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In the late summer of 2023, I took a leap of faith and founded Slay Events, fulfilling a long-held dream of starting my own business. While the desire to become an entrepreneur had always lingered within me for many years, I often found myself questioning why I felt drawn to this path. Reflecting deeper, I realized that fear was the underlying factor holding me back. Fear of failure, fear of the unknown, fear of the responsibility that comes with owning a business.

However, I reached a pivotal moment where I confronted these fears head-on. I recognized that the regret of not pursuing my entrepreneurial aspirations far outweighed the fear of failure. With this mindset shift, I decided to embrace the risk and pursue my passion for wedding planning wholeheartedly.

To my surprise, Slay Events took off more quickly than I could have ever anticipated. The initial apprehension I felt was overshadowed by the thrill of seeing my business thrive. Every milestone achieved, and every satisfied client served as validation that I had made the right decision. Today, as I reflect on my journey, I wouldn’t trade the experience of building Slay Events for anything in the world.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Owning Slay Events has been a journey filled with both triumphs and challenges. One of the primary hurdles I faced was establishing credibility and building a solid reputation in the competitive wedding planning industry. Winning the trust of clients and proving the value of my services required relentless dedication and consistent delivery of exceptional results.

Moreover, the demanding nature of the wedding industry often meant long hours, tight deadlines, and high-pressure situations. Maintaining a healthy work-life balance while meeting client expectations tested my resilience, creativity and time management skills.

Additionally, unforeseen obstacles such as logistical issues, vendor conflicts, and last-minute changes could arise, requiring quick thinking and adaptability. Despite these struggles, each challenge has served as an opportunity for growth and learning.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
