Hidden Gems: Meet Maggie and Brandon of Call Us Crazy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maggie and Brandon

Hi Maggie and Brandon, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hey! We are Call Us Crazy. We are a family of 5 that sold our house, our cars, and pretty much everything we owned to pursue the lifestyle of RV-living nomads. We were tired of the day-to-day rat race with rushing to get ready for school and work, rushing to do homework after school, hurrying to sporting practices and tutoring lessons, rushing dinner, heading to bed and starting all over the next day. Our weekends were spent doing chores and often times didn’t spend much quality time together. We had been camping in both tents and RVs many times before we “joked” about living in it fulltime. The joke became a reality when we decide to pursue this lifestyle in July 2023. We officially launched in February 2024 in San Diego, California as our first stop. We fell in love with California and have loved every day since.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Selling a house full of things was the most difficult part ahead of launching. You never really realize how much you have until you have to get rid of it. We had 8 Christmas trees, no joke!! Telling our family and friends was also a bandaid ripoff moment as we weren’t sure how they’d react, however, everyone has been incredibly supportive of our adventure.

When we first launched, we really didn’t have much of a day-to-day schedule and we struggled a bit because of it. Once we established a plan and implemented a schedule, it’s been smooth sailing.

As you know, we’re big fans of Call Us Crazy. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
While yes, one of us quit our jobs and the other works a fulltime remote job in healthcare, we also started a social media platform. We began documenting our journey on Instagram and have had so much fun sharing the ins and outs of “RV Life” including how we homeschool, where we’ve been, how we pack up and move to new destinations, and even how we cook and plan our meals in our RV. It’s been fun interacting with our audience and even agreeing to a few brand deals!

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Spontaneity of course, yet trust in ourselves and each other. This was a huge leap of faith and a scary jump off a cliff moment, we needed to have confidence and trust in our family bond and strength.

Communication is huge as well. As a team, Brandon and I are incredibly good at communicating. We are constantly checking the pulse on the day, the moment, and the overall picture.
