Hidden Gems: Meet Mayra Adriana Romero of SD Royalty Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mayra Adriana Romero.

Hi Mayra Adriana , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story as an entrepenuer and event planner started a little over 10 years ago in 2014. At the time I had joined forces with my partner as we worked on building our transportation company currently known as San Diego Limo Boss, located in mission hills, close to downtown San Diego. During that same year we were offered a business opportunity up in Oceanside, Ca as co-owners of an events venue, we took the risk and moved up to North County, SD. It wasn’t long before we started renting the venue to clients for their future Quinceaneras & Weddings. Tragedy hit as we were notified that the partnership and the venue would all come to an end and completely shut down after operating for only about 4-5 months. After being left with pending contracts for future events, it was then that I began reaching out to other venues and meeting vendors as I quickly began switching the pending clients contracts to other local venues. I grew a passion for private events and decided to get better educated by getting certified for meeting & event planning through Cal State University of San Marcos, all while opening my event planning company, SD Royalty Events. My event planning company became known as a venue finder as I was known for assisting clients in finding the perfect venue for their event, as the focus was to be dominant in North County San Diego. All of this occurred while I was pregnant with my now 10 year old daughter and I also already had two other children to care for. After time I developed relationships with plenty of vendors and became a one stop shop, offering anything and everything you would need for your special event with custom packages. During the process of getting certified for event planning I assisted in organizing a mini expo & open house at a local wedding venue within Lake house Hotel & Resort in San Marcos, Ca. I also attended other expos as a vendor for my Limo Company and Event Planning Company on several occasions. I began to also grow a passion for trade show events like Quinceanera and Wedding Expos. In 2015 I decided to throw my 1st Quinceanera Expo at a venue in Escondido, Ca which was known as my company SD Royalty Events Annual Event that took place once a year. I’ve always wanted to find a way to involve community and give back through my shows and it was because of my urge to do so that I decided that every expo that I organize will be known as an expo for a great cause. Every Expo that I threw gave a percentage of the proceeds from ticket sales and/or donated all of the money raised through our raffle sales to a local non profit. Things were going great as I received much community support including getting aired on local tv platforms like FOX 5 San Diego for various years. Everything came to a complete stop and my company shut down when the covid-19 pandemic hit as many business owners where left in a stand still moment not knowing what would happen for quite some time. I took that time to restructure the business and once doors where back open I slowly started focusing my passion mostly on organizing and planning expos. I went from hosting quinceanera expos to bridal expos and watched our shows grow tremendously throughout the years. We went from 200 attendees to nearly 1,000 attendees and are known for organizing a fast growing show called San Diego’s Biggest Quinceanera Expo & SoCal’s #1 Dance Competition located near Downtown SD. I went from hosting one annual quince expo a year to two shows a year starting in 2023, and now in 2025 i’m proud to plan and host 3 amazing tradeshows for the first time in my career! SD Royalty Events has proudly sponsored up to 10 local san diego non profits and organized up to 13 quinceanera and bridal expos. We have been seen on FOX 5 San Diego, KUSI News, KSDY TV, Univision, CBS News and aired on radio stations like Magic 92.5, Channel 9.33, and Radio Latina. I’m very excited about my project coming very soon called Summer Fiesta Quinceanera Expo & Open House on August 10, 2025 at the new Bramble Bay Venue in Imperial Beach, Ca.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been such a smooth road considering the challenges I faced in the beginning of my career as I lost a partnership and money with our initial investment in a venue in Oceanside, and years later being shut down by the covid-19 pandemic for about a year. The challenge now with raised prices, tariffs, and political crisis has many people afraid to spend and invest money.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
SD Royalty Events and San Diego Limo Boss are both my companies that where founded in San Diego, Ca since 2014. SD Royalty Events specializes in San Diego’s best Quinceanera Expos and a one stop shop party planning company. San Diego Limo Boss specializes in luxury transportation and black car service, assisting private clients whether it’s corporate airport pickup’s, wine tour outings, or wedding and Quinceanera limo shuttle service. What sets us a part from many others is that we are the only wedding or Quinceanera trade show company to be an expo for a great cause, giving back to a different local San Diego non profit through every show that we host. I’m proud that we put community first through my passion for events and philanthropy. We are a long standing event planning and transportation company that fits the needs of every client and vendor as we are realistic with the times and flexible by fitting the budget of each client in order to earn their business and trust!

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice to anyone first starting out is to be very vigilant about entering business partnerships with others, seek a business attorneys advice and always have everything contracted in writing before you move forward with any business decisions. I wish I knew how lonely the road would be when first starting out, not many believe in your vision or understand your goals and many will only support you once you’ve made it, but i’m grateful for the resilience it has built within me.
