Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan / Zara Healy / Barker.
Hi Megan / Zara, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Megan and Zara met through their full-time jobs, but their friendship truly sparked when Zara invited Megan to her birthday party. Realizing they were both obsessed with color-coded itineraries, photo-worthy décor, and unforgettable experiences, they teamed up to turn their passion into a business. The idea for Bach San Diego was born after Megan, having been a bridesmaid in several weddings, found herself repeatedly lugging an extra suitcase filled with balloons, pumps, and hangover kits to every bachelorette weekend. They realized there had to be a better way—and they set out to create it. Bach San Diego is designed to take the stress off bridesmaids and maids of honor, so everyone can enjoy the weekend too—instead of spending it blowing up balloons.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes and no! The business took off extremely quickly—which is a great problem to have and truly validated our reason for starting Bach San Diego. We knew there was a need for well-designed, stress-free bachelorette experiences, and the immediate demand confirmed we were onto something special. That said, growing quickly while balancing full-time jobs and our own personal lives came with its challenges. There are moments when we are doing everything ourselves—from hauling decor across town to answering emails at midnight to meeting with cabana boys over coffee—but those experiences have taught us a lot. We continue to expand, grow stronger, build smarter systems, and become even more confident in our mission to create unforgettable celebrations.
As you know, we’re big fans of Bach San Diego . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At Bach San Diego, we specialize in curating elevated, stress-free bachelorette weekends that are as beautiful as they are fun. From themed decor and custom itineraries to hangover kits, balloon backdrops, and even fridge stocking—we handle the details so the bridal party can focus on making memories, not managing logistics.
We offer tiered decor packages to suit every budget and group size—from our fun and stylish “Basic Bach Package” to our all-inclusive “Boujee Package,” which includes premium decor, itinerary planning, goodie bags, pool floats, and custom champagne labels. We can also provide a champagne pong table rental and full tablescape for hosted dinner parties.
We’re known for our creative themes—some of our favorites include “Bride in a ‘Tini Bit”, an espresso martini-inspired celebration, and “Last Toast on the Coast,” our most popular look featuring ocean blues, iridescent pearls, and coastal glam vibes.
What sets us apart is our design-driven approach and deep local expertise. Every event is custom-tailored to reflect the bride’s style and the group’s vibe—whether it’s a glam night out with sushi at Lionfish and dancing at Oxford Social Club, or a laid-back weekend with a Torrey Pines hike and sunset sail on the Pink Boat.
As San Diego locals who have attended (and hosted!) our share of bachelorette parties, we know exactly what makes a weekend unforgettable. We’ve scouted the best neighborhoods, hidden gems, and photo-worthy spots—and built exclusive partnerships to bring the best of San Diego to our clients. One of our newest offerings is the “Last Luau” Bachelorette Package, a tiki-inspired night out at The Grass Skirt in collaboration with San Diego Restaurant Group, complete with immersive decor, tropical cocktails, and VIP vibes. Plus, we partner with top local Airbnb hosts to secure gorgeous, bachelorette-ready stays in prime locations.
At the end of the day, our mission is simple: to give the bride the weekend of her dreams, and to let the maids of honor and bridesmaids enjoy it too—without the stress. We know the drill. We’ve lived it, we love it, and we bring the sparkle so you can bring the fun.
While we are known for bachelorette parties, we have also catered to joint bachelor/bachelorettes, birthday parties, baby showers, and any excuse for a celebration!
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The bachelorette and group travel industry has exploded in the last few years, and we don’t see that slowing down anytime soon. In fact, we think it’s only going to get bigger and more curated. Brides and their friends are looking for experiences that feel elevated, unique, and personal—less about the cookie-cutter bar crawls and more about meaningful, aesthetic moments with their closest friends.
We’re already seeing a shift toward experience-first weekends, where the focus is on shared activities—think private chefs, sailing charters, spa days and themed dinners. We also expect more personalization and niche themes to take center stage, as well as a growing demand for eco-conscious and wellness-integrated options.
With so many bridal parties traveling from out of town, convenience will continue to be key. Services like ours that offer turn-key, all-in-one packages will become the norm—not the exception. For a while, cities like Nashville, Scottsdale, and Austin have dominated the bachelorette scene, but we believe destinations like San Diego are quickly climbing the ranks. With its perfect weather, beach-meets-city energy, walkable neighborhoods, and incredible food and nightlife, San Diego offers everything you could want in a bachelorette weekend—with a more relaxed, coastal vibe that’s hard to beat.
We’re excited to keep pushing the envelope with new themes, exclusive local partnerships, and creative ways to boost the local tourism and bring San Diego’s finest to every group.
