Today we’d like to introduce you to Pearce Wright.
Pearce, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have been blessed with being a baseball player my entire life. I was named a team captain in both high school and college. I absolutely love this game and being there for my players on and off the field. I understand how difficult this game can be, so I like to be an extremely positive leader. I have a keen ability to know what to say, and when it needs to be said. One of my favorite quotes from one of my role models, is when Joe Torre describes coaching; “I do not treat everyone the same. But I do treat everyone fairly.” Some guys may respond to some tough love, while another teammate may need a simple reminder that he’s an absolute stud, while some just need to be reminded to stay calm and breathe.
During my college career, I started coaching youth travel baseball, and eventually graduated to coaching at the High School level, and finally through hard work and determination I was able to play and coach at the professional level overseas (Debrecen Tigers and Genova Rookies).
From 2021-2024 I coached at Rabun Gap Nacoochee School, a top 150 high school team in the U.S. I currently coach at La Jolla Country Day. Our 2025 season was outstanding, having won our League.
I have been blessed to have coached and develop current Division 1 (WVU, Middle Tennessee, St.John’s, Maryland, Cal), and Major League prospects
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
At first going 100% into coaching was very daunting as I went from being on a salary with health benefits etc. to having to provide for myself. I bet on myself and my coaching ability to provide the means to live. As I have progressed and grown this ‘pressure’ has turned into a strong motivator for me as I know what I put in is what I get back. No one forces me to wake up and be at my job. It has definitely turned me into a stronger, more self reliant man. Each new day is an opportunity for me to help others and I wake up fired up to do so.
As you know, we’re big fans of Frosty Baseball Co.. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Frosty Baseball Co. was started in 2019, and is a training company that helps develop baseball’s 5 tools; hitting for average, hitting for power, fielding ability, arm strength, and speed. However there is a 6th tool that in my opinion is more important than all the others, mental strength/resiliency. Here at Frosty Baseball Co. your son will be given elite instruction on all 5 physical tools but also the highly over- looked 6th tool. Positive self-talk, visualization, breath work, and learning to ‘let go’ are just some of our methods to get your son more confident and in control on and off the baseball field. Your son will STAY LOCKED 🔒 and be a cool, calm, collected young man and ball player.
Our mission at Frosty Baseball is to help make our players better people, leading them to become better ball players. I want all of my players to play fearless baseball and to be positive leaders. We expect our players to do the ‘little things’ like opening doors for others, carrying yourself in a professional and courteous manner, helping around the house with chores, being coachable etc. I also expect all-out effort and lead by example by always bringing positive energy to private lessons, team practices, clinics and games.
At Frosty Baseball we want to not only spread the game of baseball, but introduce the game to people and areas that may not have the means necessary to play this beautiful sport. In 2021 we ran a charity clinic in Little London, Jamaica. From 2022-2023 we partnered with the Boys and Girls Club of Gainesville, Georgia to help introduce baseball to kids who may not have the means to play organized/ supervised baseball. This past year Frosty Baseball Co. donated baseball gear to the kids of Little London, Jamaica 🇯🇲 who fell in love with the sport while attending our clinic in 2021. This past summer Team Evolution created a food drive for the local community of Durham North Carolina.
If your son is on a San Diego Frost travel team, we will have team charity outings, that will include beach clean ups, food drives, and community outreach.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Even if you are not a beginner, having a beginner’s mindset will set you up for massive growth. Simply put, do not be a ‘know it all’. Good eye contact and a genuine desire to listen will take you a long way.
I have been so incredibly blessed to have my number one mentor be Jesus as he has set the ultimate example of how to live. I try to live my live by the golden rule, “do unto others as you would have others do unto you.” God has opened so many doors for me and I will continue trying my best to stay on His path.
I have an older brother who also coaches baseball that has been there for me my entire life. I owe much of my success to him. My mother has been there for me every step of the way, and has been a role model of consistency, work ethic and kindness. My father has always been there for me to give me sage advise and has helped me tremendously with my spiritual journey with God. My fiancée is my rock. She is the most genuinely kind and good person I have ever met. Lastly, in the past 10 months I have been so incredibly grateful to have been mentored by one of the best coaches in America, John Edman, the Head Coach at La Jolla Country Day. His preparation and love for his players has been truly inspiring.
