Hidden Gems: Meet Ryan Johnson of Good Life Yachting and Charters Oceanside

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Johnson.

Ryan Johnson

Hi Ryan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up in North County, San Diego, I spent a lot of time in and on the water surfing and fishing. It was a no-brainer for me to eventually become a Professional Boat Captain where I could spend every day on the water. I started with fishing boats, then parasailing boats, and eventually charter boats. After 25 years of being in the boating industry, I decided to go on my own, and what a better place to start my own business than there I grew up.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My toughest challenge by far has been marketing. My business is the perfect service for the demographic at a very fair market price. The platforms that are specifically designed for my business will not allow me to use their resources, and

other businesses in the harbor will not work with me due to ego issues.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
Welcome aboard the beautiful 34’ sport yacht in the Oceanside Harbor as we make an unforgettable experience cruising these beautiful San Diego waters. Sip back with your favorite boating beverage as our experienced captains navigate you on a journey of the gorgeous coastline of North San Diego. It’s your boat! Whether you want to anchor up and hang out on our lily pad/floaties, watch the sunset over the Oceanside pier, cruise the coast, or just party in the harbor. Includes boat, captain, fuel, Bluetooth stereo, a bottle of champagne, and a large cooler of ice.

What are your plans for the future?
My future plans for Good Life Charters is to add more boats to the fleet to give people more boat options for different occasions.
