Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Litke.
Hi Sara, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I started this journey about two years ago. A friend from my church was the owner and operator of Vintage BOW before me. She decided to move out of state and sell the business. Since then, I’ve been working hard to serve the county of San Diego and make the business my own. It’s been a rewarding journey and I have met so many wonderful, creative, and inspiring people through my work. I love this business and I’m excited to see it grow in the next year.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Although it’s been one of the most rewarding and fun things I have done, starting in an industry I had no experience in brought challenges. Before this business, I had never towed or worked on a trailer. Bow has come with her own unique set of challenges like where to store her, how to clean her, how to make repairs, etc. On top of that, Bow was built in 1956 and needs lots of TLC. I’ve been lucky with having my father to help me with the physical needs of the trailer. Other businesses similar to mine have been so kind in giving me advice as well! Also, I had never bartended before. I have learned so much about my business and my capabilities through these obstacles. I’m proud to say that I dedicate a large amount of time to perfecting each event.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Vintage BOW is a mobile bartending business. Drinks are served out of a 1956 trailer, Bow or Bar On Wheels. Bow is free to use for anything! She has been used for cocktails (of course), a dessert bar, and more! Bow’s mission is to make your grand event as stress-free as possible while serving delicious drinks out of a glamorous bar. It’s such an honor to be a part of life’s biggest moments like a wedding, a company event, or a graduation. So, I help every step of the way including building a menu, creating a shopping list, setting up the bar, and hiring servers. I focus on bringing the wow factor to each event.
What do you think about luck?
I’m extremely lucky that I have great parents who are able to guide me in my business. My father with his knowledge of trailers and general repairs. My mother with her knowledge of accounting and finances. Plus, they are business owners themselves. Both have been so helpful and I realize that not every business has this type of resource freely available to them. I feel extremely lucky of my accomplishments in the first two years and I’m still growing. I’m grateful to the people who took a chance on me in the beginning and during COVID of all times.
