Hi Sara, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi friends! my name is Sara Saco, I am an Aesthetic Nurse Injector and founder of Asthetikos Clinic in San Diego, CA.
Since high school I always knew that I had passion for medicine and all things beauty/fashion but was unsure of where and how these two paths would take me in life to combine them as a career, I did what a typical student would do and chose which would be a better career or the best route for my future and decided to give healthcare a try by enrolling in a medical assistant program right after high school before committing to over 4 years degree in a healthcare major. Since day one I fell in love with learning about human anatomy, basic medical knowledge, giving shots and drawing blood. I then started taking my pre reqs for nursing school to become a registered nurse while working as a medical assistant, but in the back of my head I always thought of beauty and fashion and told myself I would go back to school after becoming an RN to either be a fashion designer or anything related to beauty to make others look and feel good! Couple years later before I started applying to nursing schools I learned a little bit about aesthetic nursing when I got my first Botox treatment and how a registered nurse can do injectables, skin treatments, hair treatments and so many more things in the aesthetics industry and I immediately knew this was exactly what I wanted to do and that this is the perfect world of two very different paths that I truly have passion for! In 2022 I graduated nursing school, passed my NCLEX and started my first ever RN job as an aesthetic nurse and after a little over a year working in few different medical spas, going to a lot of injectable trainings, gaining medical experience and a deep understanding of aesthetic treatments I realized its time for me to go on my own since I unexpectedly grew a very fast and big clientele in my first year in aesthetics by sharing all my work results on my social media which to this day I am very grateful for and because of that I wanted to give my patients the best experience and treatment outcomes and the only way to do that was to open my own medical spa to have the autonomy of working around what works best for my patients! In Summer of 2024 is when I took the leap of faith of opening Asthetikos Clinic and truly believieng in myself as a 26 year old first time ever running a business and become an entrepreneur while still working full time. After many long days, challenges and lots of learning I am so happy to say Its been nothing but a great journey and am very excited to be celebrating one year of Asthetikos Clinic in just few months and it amazes me how much growth there has been in less than a year of opening my med spa! I can not wait to share so many exciting things coming soon to Asthetikos Clinic and how much I have to offer to my current and future Asthetikos patients. Today I get to live my dream of combining unique intersection of medicine, beauty, and fashion sparked a desire to create an even more immersive experience for my patients and myself where medical aesthetics meet personal style and confidence at Asthetikos Clinic!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Opening and managing a medical spa as a first time entrepreneur comes with its fair share of challenges. My personal journey to opening my own medical spa has been both rewarding and challenging. The process of building a business from the ground up was not without obstacles. One of the biggest struggles was learning the ins and outs of business management while still maintaining a high standard of patient care. Transitioning from a nurse injector to a business owner meant balancing the clinical side of aesthetics with the administrative, marketing, and financial tasks that come with running a medical spa. Juggling these responsibilities, especially in the beginning, was overwhelming at times but I wouldn’t do it any other way!

To say the least skin treatments are definitely “in” right now and 100% my current favorite treatments, and it’s no surprise why! With people becoming more focused on self-care and achieving glowing, healthy skin, advanced skin treatments like microneedling, chemical peels, and PRP facials, are gaining major popularity this year!
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The most important quality or characteristic to my success, especially as someone who has transitioned from a nurse injector to a medical spa owner, is resilience. As an entrepreneur and healthcare professional, I face constant challenges from learning the ins and outs of running a business to staying current with the latest aesthetic treatments. Resilience allows me to adapt to changes, and keep pushing forward, even when things get tough. It’s the ability to stay focused on my goals, continue my education as a healthcare provider and maintain my commitment to delivering exceptional results to my patients. Some other key qualities that I believe contribute to my success is my passion and genuine love for helping others and enhancing their confidence through aesthetic treatments is a driving force behind my career. Passion fuels my motivation and creativity, making my work truly meaningful.
