Hidden Gems: Meet Savina Tisnado of Savinitymassage

Today we’d like to introduce you to Savina Tisnado.

Hi Savina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My life really changed when I had a spinal injury falling from a latter in my early 20s I fractured my spine and was very close to be paralyzed. It was during the opioid push period from all the doctors. Luckily, I found massage therapy to save my life instead of pills, I knew then If I healed, I wanted to become a massage therapist and help inspire holistic healing to those suffering like I did. I started school and graduated from one of the best massage schools in SD in 2013. I’ve explored my career mostly in a clinical medical way until I got the pleasure of experiencing spa relaxation work. I love to combine them both.

I finally took the leap to work for myself serving the best massages I have in my power.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I opened in November 2022, yes, literally the worst time ever to open your own business, but I felt like it really was time to take that leap. The leap of faith, as you will. It has been very challenging in the sense of consistency and believing in myself that I will always make the bills in this expensive city. It is always a learning curve, especially in marketing and tech stuff, so not my cup of tea.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
Savinitymassage is my business name a play on my real name Savina. I perform medical/clinical-based massages mixed with relaxing spa techniques such as cupping, stretching, deep tissue to hot stones, aromatherapy, steamy towels in candlelight. I find it rare to get a massage that’s not mutually exclusive. I want the whole combo without all the extra add-on prices. Everybody is different and has different needs that doesn’t fit into a box; I like to serve that uniqueness. I specialize in serving the aging population, such as seniors of 70 yrs. or older they get a discounted massage rate. I also specialize in chronic pain such as scoliosis, Parkinson disease, PMS, past injuries, etc.
