Hidden Gems: Meet Shayna Wilson of Simply Sign Mobile Notary

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shayna Wilson.

Shayna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always loved connecting with people and supporting them through important moments in life. My background is in Early Intervention, helping babies and toddlers (0–3 years old) with developmental delays access the services they need. I’ve been on the ground, sitting eye-level with little ones in their homes, coaching parents and carrying out developmental goals and I’ve also worked on the administrative side. Throughout it all, I’ve had an eye for detail and a strong sense of organization, which naturally led me to explore becoming a notary.

I became a commissioned notary in 2023 and completed my first few General Notary Work signings that year. After taking a pause when I had my second baby, I decided to go all in and grow a mobile notary business with the vision of making it my full-time career. It felt like the perfect fit: I still get to serve my community, become a trusted resource, and guide people through meaningful life milestones, all while making something necessary, like notarizations, simple and stress free.

With my kids at the precious ages of 4 and 1, I also want to be as present as possible in their lives. Owning my own business gives me the flexibility to do both: to pursue fulfilling work while being the involved parent I’ve always dreamed of being. It truly feels like the best of both worlds. While I’m still building, I believe wholeheartedly that I can and will make this vision a reality.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Right now, the biggest hurdle I’ve faced is juggling building a business, being a present mom and wife, and working my 9–5. I want to give my best to all of those roles, and figuring out how to balance them hasn’t always been easy.

I’ve also never owned a business before or had to market myself in previous jobs. It’s been both fun and challenging to learn as I go: figuring out what works, what doesn’t, and how to network effectively. Marketing and self promotion don’t come naturally to me. I’m an introvert through and through, and walking into a room full of business owners making small talk has been a big learning curve. But I’m someone who embraces (and enjoys!) change. I’m willing to take risks, try new things, and keep learning.

What gives me confidence is the feedback I’ve received from clients: once people get to know me, my work ethic, my attention to detail, and my focus on customer service, they often want to work with me again. That’s what I lean on as I continue to grow: building lasting relationships through the quality of my work and the trust I earn.

We’ve been impressed with Simply Sign Mobile Notary, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Simply Sign Mobile Notary is a mobile notary business serving North County San Diego. I bring notarization to my clients wherever they need me: at home, in a rehab facility or hospital, a senior living community, an office, an attorney’s practice, or even a local coffee shop. My goal, beyond notarizing documents correctly, is to make the process as easy and stress-free as possible. I truly enjoy serving my community, whether it’s individuals, families, small businesses, or attorneys.

While I handle a wide range of General Notary Work, my specialty is estate plan notarizations. I completed additional training to become a Certified Notary Trust Delivery Agent (CNTDA), which means I’m well versed in estate planning documents and can guide clients through the signing process with accuracy, efficiency, and clarity. I also offer flexible scheduling including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, so clients don’t have to rearrange their lives to get documents notarized.

My approach is warm, personable, and transparent. I take time to explain the notarization process so clients know exactly what to expect, what’s needed, what I can and cannot do as a notary, and when I legally must refer questions back to their attorney or the document’s source. I want every client to feel comfortable and confident during the appointment, and I make sure no one walks away with surprises.

I’m proud of the professional yet approachable brand I’ve built grounded in trust, accountability, and consistency. Building this business while also being a mom and working full time makes it even more meaningful. My kids get to grow up seeing what I’ve built, and I hope it inspires them to chase whatever it is they want in life.

At the heart of Simply Sign is a commitment to trust, accuracy, and care. Notarizations don’t have to be complicated or inconvenient, you don’t need to take time off work or rush to find an office that’s open. Whether it’s a single signature or a full estate planning package, I value every client interaction and strive to make the process seamless.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I try to make working with me as simple and convenient as possible. You’re always welcome to call, text, or email me, and for those who prefer to book directly, I have an easy scheduling link: calendly.com/simplysign. Attorneys and law firms can collaborate with me as a Certified Notary Trust Delivery Agent (CNTDA) for estate plan signings, and I’m happy to discuss package rates if there are other standard signing bundles they typically do with clients. I also enjoy partnering with senior living facilities, hospitals, and rehab centers to provide convenient onsite notarizations for residents and patients.

I love connecting with local businesses for referral partnerships, sharing trusted professionals with my clients and receiving referrals in return. Community groups, networking circles, or organizations can also invite me to speak about notary work and how to prepare for notarizations, which is especially helpful in fields where documents are often required. And on a more personal level, I enjoy collaborating with other notaries and small business owners to share resources, build community, and support each other’s growth.

The best way to support me is by sharing my name with friends, family, or colleagues who may need notary services. Referrals are the heart of Simply Sign’s growth. I also truly appreciate when people engage with my Instagram and social media content, as it helps spread the word about what I do. If you’ve worked with me before, leaving a Google or Yelp review is another huge way to help, since it lets others see your experience firsthand. And above all, supporting local small businesses (choosing us over big-box options) means the world.
