Today we’d like to introduce you to Todd Price
Todd, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve lived in San Diego CA since 2003. Originally from Georgia I relocated from Athens GA in the fall of 2003 while in mid tour with my then band, Guff. The other guys wanted to bail on our west coast tour and I told them to drop me off at the bus station in San Jose. Thanks to a multitude of friends I met from music and travels I settled down quickly. I kept playing music in various other punk and psych punk adjacent bands. ( Altaira, Batwings, Carlo Marx,Extinct Animals). I currently have a two piece experimental rock band called OLMECS with drummer Eric Oliver.
This is all to say, I’m a lifer but also see the limitations of being a musician as a paycheck. It’s definitely a lifestyle not a paycheck.
As for being gainfully employed, I am a sole proprietor painter contractor and work across San Diego county. Most projects are interior/exterior residential but I have also completed commercial projects over the years.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Community is everything. If I didn’t know some good people in San Diego I would never be where I am today. I give massive credit to my wife and kids for helping me live a healthy life work balance.
There are always struggles along the way starting your own business. Persistence, reliability, and attention to detail are what helped me along the way with Fast Painting Lic#909913.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Fast Painting ?
I’m an artist, musician/writer and paint contractor. As a licensed paint contractor #909913 I’ve painted interiors and exteriors across San Diego including full homes in Coronado and La Jolla. No projects are too large or too small. References available on request. Owned and operated since 2013. I have 27 years experience as a painter.
As for creativity, I released a 12”LP “Scattered Light of the Ancients” under the moniker OLMECS in 2023 with band mate/drummer Eric Oliver. It’s a mostly instrumental post rock album I usually describe as “meditation music for goth people”. It’s available by contacting me on our bandcamp page.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
As a solo business I was able to maintain some work projects. I wore a mask throughout the crisis for the health and safety of both myself and others. Luckily, we have moved past that difficult timeline of events.
