Holly Barr of San Diego on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Holly Barr shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Holly, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Boxing has been a huge source of joy for me lately. I started taking classes in June 2024 as a way to challenge myself physically and mentally. It’s been such a powerful outlet. It keeps me sharp, disciplined and pushes me to grow stronger every day. Plus, it’s a great balance to the fast paced world of real estate. I can walk into my boxing gym with a busy mind and walk out feeling completely reset. It’s been an incredible way to channel my energy, build resilience and find joy outside of my career.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a Broker Associate with Coldwell Banker Realty in San Diego (Broker license in CA) and a licensed Realtor in NV. I’ve been in real estate over a decade, and I pride myself on being the honest, hardworking agents who gets results without the flash. My brand is built around trust, strong negotiation skills and creating a seamless experience for my clients, whether they’re buying their first home or selling a luxury property along the coast.

What sets me apart is my ability to combine sharp market expertise with a personal, approachable style. I’m not just selling houses, I’m building relationships and helping people make some of the most important decisions of their lives. Outside of work, I bring the same discipline I use in real estate into my boxing training, fitness lifestyle and personal growth. For me it’s all about resilience, focus and balance; qualities I carry into every client interaction.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
Going through my divorce was the relationship that most shaped how I see myself today. It forced me to take a step back and rediscover who I was outside of that chapter including what I truly value, the standards I want to live by, and the kind of future I want to create. I was already independent but the experience deepened the independence and pushed me to rise stronger, both personally and professionally. It taught me to prioritize my happiness, protect my energy, and set boundaries that allow me to thrive.

While it was one of the hardest experiences I’ve gone through, it became a defining moment that gave me clarity, resilience, and a stronger sense of self. Those lessons show up every day in how I run my business. I negotiate with confidence, lead with authenticity, and remain committed to building a career on my own terms. More than anything, it taught me that challenges can become catalysts for growth, and thats been the foundation for how I show up for my clients, my business, and myself.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Never give up. You’re going to go through some incredibly challenging times – like your mom’s home buring down your freshman year of college, having to put yourself through school and even working three jobs at one point just to pay rent. But every struggle will build your strength and resilience. It may not feel like it in the moment, but all that hard work and perseverance will pay off in the long run and shape you into the woman you’re meant to be.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, the public version of me is the real me but it’s the polished, professional side I bring to my clients. I’m polished, disciplined and dedicated in business, because real estate is one of the biggest decisions in peoples lives and I take that seriously. But when I’m not working, I love to let loose, laugh and enjoy every moment I can. Times with friends, family and my dachshund enjoying beach days, concerts and traveling, are what keeps me balanced. Both sides are authentically me. I work hard, but I also believe in living life to the fullest.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I was always striving to be a good person by being honest, genuine, and true to myself. That I inspired others to know it’s okay to show up authentically, to never give up, and to keep moving forward no matter the challenge. At the end of the day, my goal in life has always been simple: to be better than I was yesterday and to encourage others to do the same.
