Hi Bethovan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I became a vegan 11 years ago, and there were no good options for vegan dips, nacho cheese or queso. Therefore I was driven to create my own so that my children would have great tasting healthy options as well.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The logistics of the business was a struggle due to high volume of online orders that required shipping. Being that our items are perishable, this created a hardship with shipping. Most orders were being mailed to the East Coast during the summer, making it difficult to keep the items cold due to wrong packaging. Our product is selling faster and major grocery outlets have expressed interest in distributing our products worldwide. We are not able to keep up with the demand due to lack of funding.
We’ve been impressed with MylkDog, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
MylkDog is a plant based cheese company based in San Diego. We make plant based cheese dips. We use all natural and organic products. Our cheese has offered our clientele an alternative to dairy based cheese. MylkDog has been introduced to cheese lovers around the world.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Having patience while facing the failures and accepting the challenges that the retail businesses encounter.
