Inspiring Conversations with Alexa Levine of Therapy For California Moms

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexa Levine.

Alexa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always been drawn to honest, messy, soul-level conversations — the kind where someone says, “I’ve never told anyone that before.”

I became a therapist because I care deeply about holding space for the hard stuff. But it wasn’t until I became a mom myself that everything shifted. The sleepless nights, the identity crisis, the invisible labor, the guilt, the rage, the love so big it hurts… it cracked me wide open.

Suddenly, I saw clearly how unsupported so many moms are — especially the ones who look like they’re holding it all together. I realized that most of the attention goes to the baby… and not nearly enough to the person who just became a mother.

That’s when Therapy for California Moms was born.

Now, I work with women across California who are navigating pregnancy, postpartum, and the chaos of modern motherhood. My clients are smart, driven, self-aware — and exhausted. They’re craving space to fall apart a little, to feel seen, and to figure out who they are now.

And that’s exactly what I offer: a space that’s honest, supportive, and entirely focused on you — not just the role you’ve stepped into.

This work is deeply personal to me. And it’s an honor to walk alongside moms as they stop surviving and start feeling like themselves again.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting and growing a private practice while parenting two young kids has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. There’s been burnout, self-doubt, way too many late nights, and more than one tearful moment wondering, “What am I doing?”

I’ve poured time, energy, and money into building something that feels aligned — but it hasn’t always paid off right away. Like so many moms I work with, I’ve wrestled with guilt for wanting more, fear of failing, and the pressure to make everything look easy.

One of the hardest parts has been learning to hold space for others while also trying to take care of myself. Therapy is intimate work. It’s deep, emotional, and personal — and doing that while managing motherhood, marriage, and business? It’s a lot.

But every struggle has shaped the way I show up for my clients. I don’t preach from a mountaintop. I walk alongside the women I work with because I get it — not just professionally, but personally.

The road hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been real. And I wouldn’t trade that for anything.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At Therapy for California Moms, everything I do is centered around one core belief: moms deserve care, too.

I provide virtual therapy for women across California who are navigating pregnancy, postpartum, and the messy, beautiful chaos of motherhood. My clients are often high-achieving, thoughtful women who feel like they’re drowning — in guilt, in overstimulation, in pressure to do it all perfectly. They love their families deeply… but somewhere along the way, they stopped feeling like themselves.

That’s where I come in.

I specialize in maternal mental health — supporting moms with postpartum anxiety, depression, rage, burnout, identity loss, and everything that doesn’t get talked about enough. I offer a safe, nonjudgmental space to process the mental load of motherhood and begin reconnecting with the version of yourself that feels grounded, whole, and human again.

What sets me apart is how real this space is. There’s no pressure to be perfect here. We talk about the hard stuff — the tears in the shower, the shame spirals, the resentment no one wants to admit. It’s raw, it’s validating, and it’s deeply supportive.

I’m most proud of creating a practice that tells the truth about motherhood — and still offers hope. Therapy with me isn’t about quick fixes. It’s about being witnessed in your pain and guided toward healing at your own pace.

So if you’re a mom in California who’s tired of surviving and ready to feel like you again, you’re in the right place.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Absolutely. I wouldn’t be here without the people who saw me clearly — even in the moments I doubted myself most.

First, my clients. The women who’ve shown up to therapy raw, exhausted, and honest — you have shaped this practice more than anyone. Your courage, your vulnerability, your willingness to do the hard work of healing — it inspires me daily. I feel honored to witness your journeys, and I don’t take that lightly.

My family has also been a huge part of this. My partner, who’s held things down during the chaos of building a business from scratch. My kids, who remind me every day why this work matters. They’ve been both the challenge and the motivation behind everything I do.

And to the mentors and colleagues who’ve helped me stay steady — especially other therapists who’ve been generous with their time, encouragement, and wisdom — thank you. You reminded me that I didn’t have to figure this all out alone.

This hasn’t been a solo mission. It’s taken a village. And I’m so grateful for every person who’s been part of it.
