Inspiring Conversations with Amina Abdulai | Realtor with Century 21 Affiliated

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amina Abdulai.

Hi Amina, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
There’s a saying that goes, “What is meant to be will always find a way.” Looking back, I truly believe that’s how my path into real estate unfolded.
Before I joined my husband in the United States, I had always been drawn to real estate. I loved touring homes, admired creative interior designs, and found inspiration in architectural beauty. Still, it never crossed my mind that one day I would become a real estate agent myself.
While living in Ghana, I followed real estate trends on social media—most of which focused on the U.S. market and investment opportunities. Although I didn’t fully grasp all the technical details, the surface-level understanding I gained was enough to keep my interest alive.
After moving to the U.S., I quickly discovered that real estate here was much more than I had imagined—it truly felt like a world of its own. Through a series of life experiences and moments of clarity, I realized that I could find my place in this world by helping others navigate it. Becoming a real estate agent wasn’t just a career move; it was an opportunity to be a guide for people on one of the most important journeys of their lives—homeownership.
That realization ignited a deep passion within me—to learn more, grow more, and be more. I strive to be someone my clients can rely on, someone they trust to help them make informed and confident decisions when buying or selling their home. It’s not just about transactions; it’s about serving people, building relationships, and turning dreams into reality.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Cicely Tyson once said, “Challenges make you discover things about yourself that you never really knew. They’re what make the instrument stretch—what makes you go beyond the norm.”
My journey into real estate began with a significant challenge: stepping into an industry I knew very little about, with few connections and almost no one to market myself to. The next hurdle was financial—finding the capital to get started while still meeting my personal and family responsibilities in a field that offers no guaranteed income.
But of all the obstacles, the biggest one was believing in myself. As an immigrant with just over three years of experience, I constantly wrestle with the fear of rejection—even though I consistently go above and beyond in my service.
For me, this career is more than just a job or a checkbox. It’s a personal mission to prove to myself that “I can.”
Every challenge, every fear, and every setback—whether within my control or not—has become fuel for my persistence. These struggles don’t hold me back; they motivate me to keep moving forward.
