Today we’d like to introduce you to Ania Boyd.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve had what many considered a journey full of experience. I left San Diego in 2011 for Atlanta, GA where I attended Clark Atlanta University. After four years, I graduated with a bachelor’s in business and supply chain management while also pledging Delta Sigma Theta. I soon moved to Orlando, FL where I began my career at Gatorade then PepsiCo. After spending four years there, I relocated back to California living in the Bay Area where I continued my career at Pepsi. During my time, the difficulties of mental health arose and it became very difficult to find happiness in my career and in Northern California. I then decided to acquire my real estate license. I was working my full-time job at Pepsi 14hours a day, working a part-time job at a tex mex restaurant as a server, and going to Peet’s coffee in between to study for my real estate exam. In 2019, I passed the exam on the first attempt. From there, I knew I was going to be a top producing agent but the limitations with my time had resulted in the total opposite. I then came to the conclusion I needed a break, a restart. So I moved back to San Diego and shortly relocated to Chongqing, China. I was in China to teach English on a 12 months contract. China was amazing being the only person of color in my district made me feel like a celebrity everyday. Unfortunately, this is when the break of Covid had begun. I spent months quarantining in China not being allowed to leave my apartment but only once a day to only have access to the local market.
My family was begging me to return to San Diego by the time I decided to leave the borders to the US were closed. I decided I’d go to Thailand for a few weeks then fly back to San Diego, so I did. Upon my arrival to San Diego, my best friend and I composed a meditation group, “Soul Circle” to assist people with the mental health struggles we’d been experiencing dealing with the pandemic. Shortly after I started working towards my master’s in public health and I began a career at Planned Parenthood working in the clinic then becoming the purchasing manager. I soon realized being a manager wasn’t my passion. I then decided to reinstate my real estate license. I told myself, “you worked so hard for this and it’s just sitting there doing nothing.” I also told myself maybe I should consider entrepreneurship as nobody will work as hard for you than you! I joined Douglas Elliman – Discher real estate group and began writing offers within the first month, networking, and acquiring clientele all over San Diego. I love connecting with people and helping others reach their goals. Buying or selling a home is one of those monumental life moments and being able to guide my clients all the way to closing brings me joy. I love what I do. I love how it have evolved my mentality and has brought me to a state of bliss and peace. It feels good knowing I’m in alignment with what I’ve been manifesting, happiness.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I kind of mentioned this, but it was a struggle. I learned the struggle is within. Your mind is so powerful and what you think is what you produce. I had to learn I wasn’t being kind to myself, I wasn’t feeding my mind things to help it grow and believe in me. I was overthrown by my own mind, my own thoughts, and it wasn’t pretty. But I decided one day to make a choice. To get up and get my life because I didn’t want to be walking around with grey cloud, letting life do me. I wanted to do life so I started retraining myself, my mind, my spirit, and body.
