Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Chiappin and Zarah Kravitz.
Brittany and Zarah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Mama Rest was born from a deep love for postpartum care, Ayurveda, freshly cooked food and the desire to support mother’s heal faster. After years of Ayurveda study, trips to India and becoming mothers ourselves we realized just how unsupported many mothers are in those first tender days after giving birth. We wanted to change that. We envisioned a service where new mothers wouldn’t have to rely on hospital food, packaged snacks or frozen meals, but could instead begin their postpartum journey with freshly cooked and deeply nourishing Ayurvedic meals made with care and intention. We deliver same-day cooked meals and even bring food directly to the place of birth so that a mother’s first meal after labor sets the tone for her healing and recovery when they need it most. Our meal services take a very personal approach as we create customize meals according to each mother’s digestion, lactation, and other factors to support her body’s unique healing process.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a fun and gratifying journey thus far filled with love and deep learning. One of the biggest challenges was logistics as cooking and delivering fresh meals daily while maintaining Ayurvedic integrity is no small feat. We’ve also had to educate people about why postpartum nutrition is so important. In Western culture, we often skip over the sacredness of the postpartum window, so it takes some gentle explaining to help people understand why fresh food matters so much for healing and recovery. And as moms, balancing caregiving and entrepreneurship continues to be a dance. However, serving our local community and helping mothers feel seen, held, and supported makes every step worth it and it’s why we started this service in the first place.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Mama Rest is an Ayurvedic postpartum meal service that offers freshly cooked, same-day delivered meals designed specifically to support new mothers in their recovery after birth. Rooted in the wisdom of Ayurveda, we use food as medicine. Our meals are warm, grounding, deeply nourishing and crafted to rebuild strength, balance digestion, and promote emotional well-being during the sacred window after childbirth.
What sets us apart is not only the quality and intention behind our food, but the way we show up. We meet mothers where they are, literally. We deliver to hospitals, birth centers, and homes on the very first day of postpartum. This ensures moms don’t have to begin their healing journey with cold, processed, or hard-to-digest food. Instead, they are met with freshly prepared meals from the very start.
We specialize in small-batch cooking using organic, locally-sourced ingredients, Ayurvedic herbs, spices and postpartum wisdom.
Our brand is about slowing down, restoring, and honoring motherhood. We are not a mass-produced meal service; we are heart-led and focused on quality over quantity.
We’d like readers to know that healing after birth doesn’t have to be done alone. With the right nourishment, mothers can feel held, seen, and supported and Mama Rest is here to offer that kind of care, one meal at a time.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to us is supporting mothers with the highest quality of nutrition, helping them regain strength and feel cared for while freeing up precious energy to devote to their babies.. When we support new mothers, we support families, communities, and future generations. We see postpartum care as a form of activism and love. Through medicinal restorative meals, we can create space, rest, and healing for mothers. Mama Rest exists to honor the postpartum window and the women moving through it.
