Hi Cathy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey in fitness and wellness began when I was just 16, teaching step aerobics at the high school I attended. In 2001, I earned my B.S. in Exercise Science and continued sharing my passion through group fitness and yoga classes at local gyms, colleges, and studios. With over two decades of teaching experience, I can truly say—I LOVE what I do!

My love for yoga deepened after moving to San Diego 11 years ago, where I founded Yogatrex, a unique experience offering destination yoga sessions throughout the San Diego region. From bachelorette parties and corporate retreats to honeymoons and family reunions, I specialize in creating memorable, personalized sessions tailored to each group’s needs and abilities.

I believe in the power of movement, mindfulness, and connection—and I can’t wait to share the joy of yoga with you.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One ongoing challenge I face is marketing to a non-local, transient audience. Most of my clientele are visiting San Diego on vacation, which makes traditional marketing methods like local flyers or repeat business less effective. I’m always exploring strategic ways to connect with travelers before or during their trip—whether it’s through local partnerships, travel platforms, or personalized outreach. My goal is to help people discover a unique, grounding yoga experience that becomes a memorable part of their stay.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
As a former group fitness instructor who couldn’t even touch my toes, I used to believe I just wasn’t flexible enough for yoga. I had a huge misconception about what yoga really was—and I’ve come to realize I’m not alone. So many people think yoga is only for the ultra-flexible or super fit, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Through movement, breathwork, and meditation, yoga helps you soak in all the happy feels—and fall in love with who you are today. It’s about connecting with your inner self and discovering self-love.

My goal is to spread the love and benefits of yoga to everyone, regardless of age, body type, gender, or fitness level. Because yoga truly is for every BODY. If you need props, use them. If you prefer modifications, there will always be options.

Yoga is still Yoga – I want clients to come as they are and just be real, not perfect. And hopefully, fall in love with yoga, just like I did. 💛
