Today we’d like to introduce you to Cora Nicholls
Hi Cora, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Despite growing up in San Diego, I had almost no women friends. After leaving school, it just became harder to meet people. The friends I did have either moved away or we drifted apart. I lived in Australia for a little while and had heard about these awesome friend-making events about 2 hours from where I lived. All I could think was I wish there was something like this near me. I tried to find something like it when I was set to move back to San Diego and when I turned up with nothing I thought why don’t I start something like that? Hence the idea for Social SanDiego was born.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
So far I’ve only had two events, and I think the biggest challenge is figuring out how to put it out there. There’s definitely a need for friend-making events, everyone wants to connect with someone and a lot of people don’t know how, but finding those people is hard. If they’re anything like me, they are homebodies.

I run friend-making events which i designed specifically to get people to bond and get to know each other as much as possible. I’ve created custom question cards, ice breaker games, and other activities that ensure that.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I am just winging it so if anything I’m open to advice!
