Today we’d like to introduce you to Cristina Braun
Hi Cristina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started working at Hyde Edwards Salon and Spa right after I got my license. Rebecca Hyde Edwards took a chance on me with no experience and I quickly began my successful journey as an esthetician with the seven years that I worked there. I learned so much about keeping my standards high and about listening to my client’s needs and wants. After seven years of working at the best salon in San Diego, it was time for me to go off on my own. I had the opportunity of having NFL Hall of Fame Marshall Faulk invest in my dreams and help me start my studio Total BeautyBar. At the time, I was with my friends who did hair and nails. As growing pains occurred, another opportunity approached me. My friend Angela, owner of Hue salon was a client of mine. We joked one day about building me a room in her busy hair salon and boom, next thing you know, I’m moving to my community of Ocean Beach. I was thriving at this salon called Hue. Everyone in the community goes there and I got to work on all my friends and clients as before but now they only had to drive 5 min to see me rather than 15 or 20 min. Everyone was so happy and I was the busiest I had ever been. Clients were coming out of my ears and I got to work with the most fun and talented ladies who welcomed me with their sisterhood. Then unfortunately COVID came and I was forced to move my thriving business to my truck, going home to home. My body was hurting from lugging my massage table, crockpot for towels, table steamer, and products every day but it was what I had to do. I couldn’t let years of hard work go down the drain. One day as I was getting my hair done at Hue salon, because of course hairdressers were allowed to stay open, I saw this tiny little storefront suite in the same shopping center as the salon I was working out of! I called the number on the window, Angela gave me a good referral and now my dreams of having my spa finally came. Through all the obstacles, I finally have my own super cute little two-room suite where we do facials, lashes, hair removal, acupuncture, cupping and so much more. I have my space with my sister and esthetician Diana Soto and acupuncturist Dr. Veronica Swords. I couldn’t be happier to serve the people of my community, to be close to my children, and to give back to this great city of Ocean Beach.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been an easy journey, especially since COVID-19 hit just as I was experiencing peak success. It took time, but all my clients have started to return to my spa, and I believe things are improving.

My business is Total Beauty Bar, a space where you can age gracefully and feel confident in your own skin. I believe in a natural approach to skincare, emphasizing the importance of drinking water, detoxing, and being mindful of what you apply to your skin. I specialize in Eminence Organic Facials, accompanied by a relaxing massage. I’m proud to stay true to natural products and treatments. While it can be challenging in today’s world, I believe that with the right choices, achieving healthy skin is possible.
What makes you happy?
Helping my clients achieve happiness brings me joy. When they choose to stop wearing makeup, they come to me for assistance in making their skin healthy enough to feel confident without it. I also believe that my cellulite treatments significantly boost their confidence, which is rewarding to witness as they embrace their beauty. I am continually in awe of how beautiful all my clients are, and that inspires me every day.
