Today we’d like to introduce you to Dan Bonafede
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
From a young age I was always into fitness, my dad, brother and I would all workout and do sprints not to train anything specific, but just because it was fun. Having an interest in it from a young age helped me tremendously through my athletics career as that was an area I tried to gain an edge. Eventually my playing career came to an end and not too long after I started coaching lacrosse.
I coached a wide range of kids all the way from kindergarten to high school. Throughout my time as a coach, I started to see the players not be able to perform basic physical skills at a competent level, things like run, cut, jump, skip, and being able to decelerate to stop themselves. On top of that, they were getting injured at an alarming rate. Looking deeper into this I saw that it wasn’t only athletes having this issue, but it was the vast majority of adults and people in general that couldn’t perform many of these basic tasks.
During this time I continued to learn and apply training techniques to help make me not only a better athlete but a more efficient human. I ended up finding and having the opportunity to work for and learn from some of the top minds in the field of human performance.
I knew that eventually I wanted to work for myself and I started my own business, MadFast Performance, where I continue to learn through working with a wide range of people as well as through my own application and experimentation of training.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been challenging for sure, but that’s how you learn. Starting a business from scratch, learning the in’s and out’s of what goes on behind the scenes, and continually working on it to make MadFast as good of a service as it can possibly be. I’m thankful to have a lot of people in my corner that I can always go to for help.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
It’s not just lifting weights, or training to get bigger and stronger, its about your bodies (physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually) ability to absorb and produce force.
Ultimately MadFast specializes in training the individual to become a more efficient and proficient human, so that whatever you choose to do whether it be, playing sports at a high level, going for a walk every day, sitting at a desk for 8 hours, laughing with your friends, or playing with your grandkids, you have the ability to do so without a second thought.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I offer in person, and online training options. My gym is located at 7272 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. If you have questions or would like to start training you can message me anytime through: call, text, email, or social media.
